I thought it was more of a mass than a race? Anyhow, not trying to keep up with any of the racers on this forum. I'll use the "newborn son" excuse, watch me using it more regularly as time goes on.

are you talking about the british heart foundation london-brighton ride which has about 30,000 participants?

Bwaaaaahahahahahaaaa, it's only 60 miles. For some reason I thought it was further than that.

Dont do it with 30001 othe people, you'll end up having to get off on the hills and walk because of the sheer volume of people. Search the forum find the CTC Friday night to the coast route and do it yourself, it's mostly on quiet roads and is a lovely route, as someone else said it's only 60 miles so it's not hard, there are 3 main climbs and one big descent but easily doable fixed on around 70 inches.

i did this over the summer with my girlfriend, the country side route not the charity ride and its easily doable, though we got lost and ended up doing around 70miles instead of 60.
heres the route we did (minus the getting lost):

i know its a bit early to be talkin bout a race next year but i may as-well put it out there now to accumulate some people over the months up to it.
me and hopefully a few of my mates are goin to ride the london to brighton bike race next year, all of us riding fixed. i wanna try and get a bigger group of fixed riders to come along nd do it with us nd then get twisted in brighton after!
if anyone can be bothered to join us then jus post on here nd il keep you in the loop with whats goin on.
cheers.
