Gore do some nice ones, giordana do as well, both of which I own.
also saw some specialized one advertised in cycling plus for about £50
they're like shorts but a bit longer, innit.
Probably better to get kneewarmers and some normal shorts so they're more versatile!

gore stuff is good, the assos ones seem to be only available with the long distance mille chamois (prefer the F1). have purchased some santini ones from ebay but the post isn't delivering the goods.
condor should have their autumn/winter range in now if you want to fondle the merchandise. -

I was in Condor last night looking for some 3/4 to try and they didn't have many options, i.e. Assos or Rapha.

knee warmers are good but the point of 3/4's is they are a heavier weight fabric so your back and legs stay warm in autumn/spring temperatures.

Check Cycle Surgery, they usually have a good range, or chainreaction a bigger range but only online so ou cant try b4 you buy.
With knee warmers I find that they always slip down which is annoying.

I've got two pairs of the endura ones from evans
these ones I think
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/endura/thermolite-bib-3-4-ec002078first pair are battered and torn, but I have had them for approx 5/6 years, the other is still going strong, apart from a little repair to the stitching on the straps, which came away after two winters of riding..

Rapha ones are great. Wick really well but warm and snug.
Will run and hide now but stand by my suggestion

DJ - the Rapha ones are very nice, but at £160 are somewhat expensive.

Shock Horror.... Dancing James wears Rapha.....
at least he's warm and snug (gay) though.

I have just this minute received the blue descente ones that wiggle have at half price (£32). I've only opened the packet to check the colour (not at all as lurid as the wiggle reviewers would have you believe) but haven't tried them on yet (I don't think my colleagues would appreciate it).
I don't think they are going to be particularly warm but I'm planning on getting some proper longs for the properly cold weather.

Because the bib holds things up and keeps stuff from slipping/riding down. Although I prefer bibs because of the corset-effect that hides my beergut and prevents the large "spillover' waistline at the top of the shorts.

You can always order the two sizes that you think will fit best. Try them on, return one that doesn't fit, for refund. -

put the knee warmers under the legs of the bibs and this should keep them in place
Hippy just wears shorts, he prefers not to have the bib
i prefer the gay 18th century bodybuilder/circus strongman look, so go for the full bibs

Non bibs dig into your waist and expose your lower back/kidneys to the cold. Bibs keep everything nice and warm and don't dig in. They do make it a bit more awkward to take a leak when you're wearing them though.
Plus, as DJ has alluded too, if you're short of ideas for a fancy dress party, wear them with a waxed moustache and a comedy dumbbell to complete that circus strongman look.

Bibshorts and knee warmers are an awesome combination due to their adaptability.
My old 3/4bibs were a pain as sometimes they were just too fucking hot. -

I only got 3/4 in fleecy/roubaix material for really really cold days; bibs + fleecy knee warmers have been good for most weather above zero.
At the super budget end of the spectrum, I've found the Wiggle/dhb stuff generally nicely finished with a crappy chamois that's in the wrong position, whilst PBK has a much better chamois but less flatlock etc. Rapha bibs are fucking magical if you can get them in the warehouse sale for less than £50
PBK knee warmers are anatomically cut with decent silicone grippers top and bottom and were £10 less that the izumi Pearl ones they replaced that had neither.

i bought bib 3/4s. i can clearly see the link between mexican wrestlers/19th century fairground strongmen.
the ride in today was awesome. in a perverse way i'm looking forward to winter. now for replacement shoes....
Recommendations for 3/4 length bib shorts if you'd be so kind. Most existing chat seems to be on the normal short variety.
Brief google search reveals lots out there:
