The answer to your question is yes.
Are you for real? You want to grind away the braking surface of a rim to make the shape more like a fucked up non-brake surface rim?
Seriously, how do you expect that to look? Are you planning to professionally machine it away, then polish and anodise it till its smooth?
Why not got just buy one of the many rims made without a brake surface?
With your idea you might aswell pick up somebodies discarded worn out rims where the brake surface has worn away from usage and then try to paint them.

You won't be able to use your brake properly and you'll wear the paint on the rim down. I wouldn't recommend it!

DFP i think he surely mean 'grinding' as in allowing the brake pads to grind the paint off the rim. Or maybe grindin' in tha club.

if its fixed you DONT want a back brake. if its single speed freewheel you DO!

grinding with a grinder on the rear machined surface, front will be left. finish I expect to get is wel..... a non machine rim, I will of course finish it off with sandpaper / file and paint over it, it will just look less bulky around rim, also a little bit of aerodynmics xD

hahah great chat. if you want to reduce the braking surface a bit (if the size of the brake pads/carrier are slender and do not take up the whole area) then you could mask a bit of the braking surface off and srap the rest. really not worth while though. if you want the non machined look with a machined rim your best bet is to get a silver polished rim

Why would you not want a back brake on a fixed wheel? Allows easier more controllable stopping. Lets you rest legs when trying to decellerate downhill. Minimal cost & maintenance for a whole lot of benefit.

With lexis and spelling like that, Platini, nay I, shall kill you first.
Is this a stupid idea? Not enough monies for Velocity Deep Vs so will probably get DP 18s. I think they'll look a bit better without machined surface and pained.
