I´ve had the same Miche cog on my (brakless)beater for 2 odd years now... no problemo.

On one of my bikes I've got Miche cranks, bb and hubs, none of which have ever failed me and all have performed perfectly. They're Grrrreat
-
• #4
i got primato cranks and bb today - no problems in fitting, seem really nice.

someone asked the same thing a while ago, they're fine and work perfectly well, the thing I don't like about Miche is certain component, such as the lockring being made out of butter.
other than that, they're pretty good, especially the crankset, they're good value for money.
having said that, if you want to have a strong reliable hubs, go for System EX, I'm surprise how well they held up against the worse, you might as well forget about getting a Phil Wood and get those even.

System EX the same as Zenith (and old IRO and some others)?
[EDIT] Used Google. It seems they are the same.

well naturally, II assumed you knew there's more than one branding.

Oh yeah, the Supertype seatpost is a thing of beauty and the graphics of their packages are classy (IMHO).

ha ha!

Motherfuck.

"Safety System" ?

• #12
trick rider!
-
• #13
Always liked the look of the seatposts- what happened to that to make it fail?
-
• #14
what happened to that to make it fail?
Poor design.

• #15
But it looks pretty?

• #16
James Martin sat on it?

Fat rider!
Fixed.

I never had trouble with Miche stuff. Never used the post I had since it was the wrong size but the rest of the stuff work fine. Riding in Melbourne is a bit less destructive since the weather is far less shit there.

Miche is shitty.
The hubs are shit because you have to use a Miche, Campy or Phil Lockrings. The former is made of cheese and the latter two aren't cheap.
The cogs are a fucking stupid two piece design, for no reason other then to annoy.
And its all ugly and over-price bottom of the range shit.
Formula ftw.
(Formula is the name of the company, they trade under the name System Ex - all other names are just re-branded by other companies e.g. Condor, BLB, etc...) -

They're Italian.. of course they use stupid threading. Look at Campag shit. And look at how much of their shit breaks.
Anyway, I got my groupo at cost so meh.

I think I'm siding with Mitre-Tester. Given his harshness on the porn thread I'd be scared not too.
-
• #23
My sugino sprockets came with a carrier- nice bit of design I think.
-
• #24
Is it just me that finds when i take my lockring off the cog is pretty loose?
Also, if your cog was still tightened onto the hub then your drivetrain acts as a perfectly good tool to remove it.
God knows what works as the tool to remove the miche carrier.
Imo Mche are medium to low quality, medium to low aesthetic factors and bloody annoying because of the incompatability of parts. -
• #25
the quality of miche is pretty mixture, for instance on a hubs, the hubs are good quality, but the axles and the lockring aren't.
the axles get rust to fuck, but then it is a track hubs.
Is Miche really just shit or the shit?
A lot of the people on these boards hate the brand (at least the BBs and hubs) while the rest seem to give their silent approval or have no say on the subject. The consensus amongst the riders here in Helsinki seems to be that there really is nothing wrong with the components and that they are quite good, even.
I've bought a few pairs of Zeniths (32H and 36H) from Outspoken! (superb service) and a pair of Miche Primatos from some German shop (they cost fuck all and as I am gathering various parts for my road bike, they got shipped, with the rest of the gear, for free, in a sense). Never ridden Miche before, mind, so I feel like an explorer.
Haven't read of Miche cranks failing or being of poor quality or disliked, but the same can't be said about their hubs and their BB which have gathered vitriol.
So in a nutshell: how many of you have suffered because of Miche's poor quality or the characteristics of their components?
