I was walking past back from King X about that time and saw a fire engine heading that direction and sirens in the distance. We'll hopefully hear more in the morning..

:( Just when we had a week or two without threads like this.
Thoughts out there to the family/friends involved. Hope it's not fatal.

I was about to rant about a coach hitting me on the back head this morning with his wing mirror but after seeing this I think I will just HTFU. Sorry to see another rider down thread, hope those involved are ok?

Was getting some grub at the Eagle in Farringdon road, and just as I sat down next to the window there must've been an accident happening. Some small bin collection vehicle ran over a cyclist, as far as I gathered, and shortly after there was three fire engines and a police car on the scene, all of Farringdon Rd was cordoned off. I saw some firemen going in there with equipment, so I assume someone must've been cut out of there. Not exactly sure what happened.
Horrible. Especially after my g/f came back with the news about the queens rd accident. Thoughts to everyone involved.
specifics? can you post a map - and time?

It was a motorbike. A flatbed road maintenance lorry was turning right into Bowling Green Lane (coming up towards Mt Pleasant). It looks like the motorbike was trying to overtake as the bike was buried headfirst under the driver's side of the cab. Must have gone in flat as there was only damage to the lower half of the cab door. They were loading the rider into an ambulance when I got there, but it didn't look very hopeful i.e. the ambulance didn't go anywhere. I heard sirens going on about 20 minutes later though, so hopefully he was off to hospital.
I don't think there were any cyclists involved, but I could only see the scene from one side.

Didn't know it was a motorcyclist. I only saw the vehicle and something under. There were 2 cyclists and the guys from the lorry crew standing around at first, then loads of fireengines and stuff 2 mins later. Girl at the bar said it was a bike, hence my assumption it was a cyclist. I don't really wanna see those accidents to closely, had my share in civil service in Germany, therefore I wasn't so curious to have a closer look or anything.
