  • no and i don't know why you would... they aren't bikes for sitting down on. Would be a major drag!

  • indeed, why do you want to do this?

  • it wouldn't be tough, but as they say above why? is it for tricks?

  • Can i build a fixie for around £100.00?

  • yes

  • If i wanted to build one, what should i look for, e.g. should i look for a scrappy and build from there. Any ideas would be very welcome...

  • search....

could either buy a cheap old road bike off ebay (make sure has horizontal dropouts) and get new back wheel for it with a fixed hub, take off one front chainring, get a rear cog and voila!

    Thanks for your help...

  • there are quite a few people with fixed MTB / cruisers tommy on here has a nice bike he fixed up
all you would really need is a rear hub
    what size are the dropouts 126 120 130 136 ?

there are quite a few mountain bike hubs where the disc mount is replaced by a proprietary cog which mounts just as a disc would, fix one in and away you go fixed up and looking sharp

measure rear drops inside to inside then buy hub that would make sure it all fitted perfectly

  • if a lanky fecker like myself can sit comfortably on a 20 inch bmx and ride i wouldn't see any problem fitting you on that unless you are peter crouch in diguise or sun ming ming
