I used to live right next to Bletchley Park and they were over my house pretty much most weekends in Summer - usually a Lancaster flanked by a Spitfire either side.......
It is such an amazingly deep rumble!

My uncle flew in them during the war, love the sound of them.

Rumble....snarl...moan...incredible sound.
You could even see the crazy, distorted light around the exhaust tips.

Some someone add Jung to the list of tossers in Richmond Park today please...
Grew up in the valley to the south of Biggin Hill, they used to fly a Lancaster flanked by a Spitfire and Hurricane along the whole length of said valley near the end of the Sunday show every year, til it got banned as it was apparently a danger to traffic on the M25.
Rubbernecking bastards!

My mum lives near Goodwood and she gets Lancaster Bombers, Spitfires, Hurricanes etc flying over quite often, I've been there once when a Lancaster flew over and It really is something to see and hear.
Definitely understand what Jung is talking about, must've been a real surprise in Richmond Park!

It flew low over Walthamstow as well.
Was an awesome sound.
I thought it might be lost: we don't normally get aircraft, only copper choppers searching for the latest murderers. -

Many years ago I used to see these guys up in the air with me. Absolutely awesome sight to see 30 WWII era planes in formation at 1500 feet.

I was on Hampstead Heath when it went over, brilliant sound!
So I'd just finished a few gruelling RP laps and I'm sweating my way around the top by primrose hill when I hear a rumble...
Said rumble grows in aural magnitude til it almost feels like the air is humming. By this time, even my oxygen depleted brain has cottoned on that something large and angry sounding is coming up behind and pretty damned fast. I look back....and up and WOOOSH...a fucking Lancaster bomber flies over about 200 metres directly above my head before pulling up into a big banking turn over Lords. AWESOME! In fact so awesome that I was within a gnats cock length of barreling straight into the kerb.
Even better, about a minute later he turns around and comes straight back the other way!
Road the rest of the way home humming the Dambusters theme.
