Freecycle: Wheels, rack and mudguards

Posted on
  • FRONT WHEEL & REAR RACK Wheels, rack and Mudguards from an early 80's Claud Butler.

Wheels are 27 inch. Rust on some of the rear spokes but both wheels perfectly functional.

Rack is steel but light weight and, again, perfectly functional.

Mudguards are plastic with adjustable stays and a slighly gold colour.

  • Wow! you've made my day - can I grab those mudguards off you please?

Also - are the wheel rims alloy OR chromed steel?

If alloy then I'll take the rear for my dad... else he will have very poor braking this Winter.

    cheers.

  • They look as though they come from a Claud Butler or Holdsworth from the late 70s, should be alloy. Wish I'd been in time to nab the guards!

  • Yep! ...thats why I got excited - ESGE mudguards are the same as OE on my 1979 Dawes Super Galaxy (ones I have are shortened and chipped).

  • PaulR - you're right - they do come from a Holdsworth built Claud Butler. How/why do you know that?!

And provenrad, yes, the mudguards are indeed ESGE made in W. Germany - you're welcome to them, and the rear wheel for your dad. I'll pm you.

Anyone want the front wheel and rack?

  • Okay, just the rear rack left...

  • PaulR - you're right - they do come from a Holdsworth built Claud Butler. How/why do you know that?!

Comes from my daughter having exactly such a bike - a gorgeous mixte frame from the very tail end of the 70s, still running all its gears.
