What width rim tape

Please can someone tell me what width rim tape I need for my Mavic CXP-33 rims please?

It says "Recommended rim tape: 622 x 18 x 0.6" on their website. Does that mean 18mm wide? I'm sure that will be far too wide, I would of thought 15mm at the most - what have others used?

Velox rim cloth tape..although any would probably do....it's not that important......well it's fairly low down the scale for me.

I usually use the Velox cloth tape which is 16mm. But cyclebasket have it listed as 17mm. But then cyclebasket sell it for £1.20 a roll so I buy from them.

Have this tape on my cxp33s, seem to fit nicely.
I also have some velo-plugs for a 29er wheelset I'm putting together. rim width is a non-issue with them.

Electrical tape!

The rim tape should cover more than just the holes. It should seat snugly across the whole of the internal rim width so that the inner tube is sat on tape and not rim. The correct size tape tends to sit in a smooth arc in the rim and is therefore slightly wider than the internal rim width. It's all about reducing the potential for punctures.

What width rim tape do I need for an Archetype rim and is Velox still the shit or is there something else I should try?

DCR supplied 16mm (the green one) with mine.

I'm a Velox fan, Tester isn't: take your pick...
