I had a reply from "catboy1981" in my njs frame thread with these back in july.

for $795 shipped you can have a 55cm white vivalo f&f in great condition from the States.
you can try see if he takes a lower offer or willing to state "contents of package" low so you don't get stung on import. -

yeah, seen all of those. I can't be bothered with the hassle of buying frames overseas, not really a fan of the red decals on that vivalo either. I was gonna go for the white umezawa but the guy wants 475, I did make an offer of 450 but not heard back yet.

whatever floats your boat dude.
it's incredibly hard to find (decent) njs frames for sale in uk
-
• #6
I find the problem is people ask too much for what they're worth
-
• #7
because they don't want to loose money which they paid for the frame/import etc. and at current hipster taxes it's worth a try to get top dowwah as a seller.
-
• #8
I totally understand why, but it's ridiculous. My old vivalo cost me 370 just over a year ago and was in near mint condition, the same one went on ebay for just over 500
-
• #9
yah, two years ago you could get njs frames for 300
if there are people out there prepared to pay that sort of money then the prices go up. As soon as there is a market there is competition both amongst buyers and sellers.

Since those Keirin frame cost a lots of money nowadays, would suggesting a custom frame build locally be out of the question?
It'd still be cheaper than a Keirin frame.

Slaytanic is it the personal connection or the ride of the Keirin frame that has you ready to throw that kind of money down?
I've just been lucky enough to ride a UK built 753 tt frame that was so smooth and I've ridden a couple of UK lugged track frames that were very harsh - are the Keirins smooth, or is it more about the njs and geo?
Danke.

its all about the magic those japanese do with the geometry of the frames, they are a beauty of frame building craftsmanship

all I want is something close to my previous build. I could ride it rough with confidence and it had no toe overlap at all. Not to forget mentioning the perfect finish on the frame and knowing it had had a history of of being raced, That's why I liked it and why I want another frame similar again. cheers.

There was some website where people were getting cheap anchor frames, anyone know what it is?
I personaly would say screw the bling, spend that amount of cash on getting a frame built for you instead.
But I've met you, and you are much more in tune with the kids than I am. I love hub gears, that makes me immune to the charms of njs.

go to a uk frame builder, explain what you want (geo, lack of overlap etc) and then get the best of both worlds - a frame with the aesthetics you wish plus that fits you perfectly

Cheers for the suggestions people. I just wanna replace what I had. I've often thought of a custom build, but that could be something i'd consider later. Knowing my luck, i'll get another frame and my old one will turn up!! That would be quite nice though!

know its not your size but i have a champagne vivalo 50x53 for £400. almost new condition.
I'm trying to replace my vivalo that was stolen about a month back now, so i'm after another keirin frame. I have a budget of 450. As i'm trying to replace my previous build, i'm after the frame in a solid white gloss finish. I have no particular brand in mind, though an opaque white vivalo would be nice :) Anything between 53 and 57 would suit me fine. Cheers!
