2009-09-04 - Rider Down, Elephant & Castle

Just heard from a colleague, about 7.45 this morning, lady hit by a car on the Kennington roundabout. Paramedics were working on her when he passed.

Let's hope she's ok.

Bad morning. About 8.30 am, on Evelyn Street heading towards Surrey Quays, just by the McDonalds. Ambulance was there. Once cyclist on his back on the pavement (wearing yellow I think) and two others in attendance. Couldn't tell what had happened but hope they are ok.

Traffic was still backed up past Oval tube from the direction of E&C when I went past at around 08.40, may not bode well- fingers crossed for those involved?

dont know if affects town as bad, but out here in the burbs the schools have now gone back, I feel that i didnt properly appreciate the quiet roads these last six weeks

Went through E&C at about 7.45 too. Saw the bike (MTB/hybrid) under the front bumper of a car, and an ambulance at the kerb. No blood on the road and no taped off areas with scenes of crime officers gathering evidence so I assumed it wasn't tooo bad, although getting crunched by a car will never be much fun. Good luck whoever you are.

Dont think that was the accident Neil, more to do with the epic road works they have just started on the New Kent Road, which has made it one lane, so everything coming off the roundabout into it gets stuck, it was bad when I got there - so doesnt suprise me that it was all the way back to Oval by 8.40. Time for route change I think - AFAIK the roads gonna be fucked until December time.

Tricky one routewise- I used to go Jamaica road way, but now that I go in with the Mrs it is either OKR or through Peckham/Camberwell, then either Walworth road or Kennington road.

I normally choose Kennington but as referenced above just getting to it is becoming annoying!

Anyway, off topic stuff over it sounds as though the rider down should be ok for which I am thankful.
