  • My housemate has decided to try out cycling, so with him getting a bike and my girlfriend having two, etc I have to pair down my bikes to a more managable number so that we can still open our flat's front door. This one I don't get to use as much as I should so if anyone wants it, send me a PM.

Roberts track pursuit frame, made in 1978, out of Columbus SLX Aero tubing. I can't find my tape measure, but it fits like a 56cm top tube. 700c front and back. Bright metallic red frame, with chrome track ends and a white fork. Zulu Carbon rim on a Hope hub 16spokes, rear is an all black Mavic Open Pro 32 spokes to high flange Campag Record road hub respaced to 120 OLN and gives a standard 42mm track chainline, Surly 1/8 18 tooth sprocket.

Campag Chorus cranks with single chainring bolts and a 49 tooth 1/8 Miche chainring, on a Chorus 102mm BB (English threaded) to give a good chainline, Turbomatic saddle, Tear drop profile tubing through out, proprietry teardrop Columbus seat pin, rear retaining bolt (at one level the bolt has created a hole in the seat pin, so it can't be used at that exact height. I have got round this problem by adjusting the crank lengths or using saddles with different heights), Ultegra headset, Cinelli 1R 11cm stem, Pantographed with 'Roberts', Profile Airwing pursuit bars 42cm width, Shimano 105 front brake, Tektro aero brake lever.

    £550 ovno

  • oooh
Fuck. Roberts low pro. Oooh fillet brazed. Oooh no money.

    Hmmm.

Split and sell me the frame? Please.

  • someone on the forum wanted this after seeing it somewhere in london, maybe a search will find that person.

  • I would very much like to buy the frame only.

Wasn't that the guy who wanted desperately to trade his NJS Makino frame for a "Roberts lo pro he saw around Shoreditch"...

...just coz he wanted to try out riding a low profile bike?

yes, that's right, it's all very queer I must says.

  • will take front wheel if you split!

    In line scobles.

  • Ah man that's lovely, would love that for track riding, wrong size tho. =/

  • How tall are you?

I presume as you say that it fits like a 56cm it would be too small for me at 6'2", but just thought I'd check.

  • Looks like a 57/58cm.

  • are you saying the seatpost is stuck at that height?

  • and is the front wheel a tub or a clincher...looks like a tub.

  • Thanks for the questions! I am 6ft1 and normally ride a 56cm top tube road frame, and find it is very similar in terms of reach. The front wheel is for tubular tyres. The seat pin is free and not seized, but at one point on its length, the rearward facing seat retaining bolt which presses directly on the seat pin to hold it in place has 'screwed' into the post and left a hole. Therefore I just ran it with Turbo saddle which is quite high from the saddle rails to saddle top, as opposed to the short Toupe which was on before, this allowed me to clamp the pin at a different spot, and has caused me no problems in 12 months of riding. The other other is too get Roberts to repair the pin of course.

  • could I have the top tube measure, please?

  • if u split me is interested in the bars

    cheers

  • Hey Mr C, I will bring get a tape measure after work and let you know the exact top tube.

  • Are you sure this lo pro is from 1978 ???

  • I'll have your wheels if you split.

  • It was reprayed by Roberts two years ago, and they confirmed its age. They were also impressed that it was still sound! Not many frames were made in this tubeset, and those that were often had alignment faults discovered a couple years laters. This one however is spot on!

  • I just wonder, because there weren't that many lo pros around in 1979...

  • Hello gav,
Is the complete bike still available?
    regards

That's interesting, it is 700c front and rear, so perhaps it was in the initial stages of experimenting with a shorter head tube?
