Countryside ride this sunday 23rd sep

  • it'll probably be thwarted by the weather, but it's worth a bash:

meet moseley village (usual spot on the crossroads outside wetherspoons/the junction pub) 2PM SHARP.

30ish mile route which i've recced solo in 2 hours, but at a more convivial pace could go as long as 3hrs.

end up at a countryside pub (the last one on the route is the wetheroak, also featured in one of gav's evening rides) for cobs and ale. from there it's probably 30 mins back to town depending on how many beers you partake of...

anyone up for it? start time/route/pub all flexible if these suggestions are wildly unpopular.

  • 23rd sep is a wednesday.
    you mean august?

if so, quite possibly interested. although iv never done more than 10 miles spinning my 48/19

  • if you can do 10 you can do 30. just warm up gently and eat properly before and during the ride, and youlll be fine. stop halfway if needed for a bit of a stretch and a refuel

i dont think i ever rode more than 25 miles at a time before going to france and doing 70+ miles a day

mind you, that 70+ miles was not on fixed, it was on freewheel singlespeed, the 25 was fixed. but before the 25 i never rode more than 10 on fixed, the furthest i ever rode was to walsall or brierly hill from bearwood.

  • yeah, my fixed miles have been firmly within central/south birmingham,

done plenty o miles on my roadie but it really doesnt compare to getting your spin on down a nice long hill...argh

  • yep, i meant this sunday 23rd august. eeerrrrgh.

  • im up for this, lets hope the sun has his hat on.

  • I'm going to a friends picnic - curses.

  • Good shout monsieur!
I'm at a wedding tomorrow - a good friends wedding...
If the world hasn't chewed me up and spat me out on sunday morning, I'll be out for a spin.
    nice one

  • you're always at weddings - are all of your friends bigamists?

  • ha ha ha ha ha... !
That's so true. Most of my friends are getting hitched and squeezing out sprogs...

  • have agood ride lads, the weather looks good apart from the wind. nice and cool though and no sign of the dreaded R-word.
