(assuming 26" wheels)
My instant reflex answer is on-one as I'm guessing you're on a budget, and they are great for the money.

If you can spare a bit more (and there's any left) the Dialled Love/hate looks smashing.

cheers for the links. I cant believe the on-one frame price. that could be the answer rather than a beat up gumtree purchase

+1 I'm pissed off I missed the 29ers on sale (sold out now). 26" still available though at cheap price.

Gets great reviews from its owners too. If I remember right there's even fittings for a rear rack.

I would definitely have said on one if you are on a budget - their carbon forks are meant to be pretty nice as well. Check the Let's Offroad thread on here for lots of advice on trails and people meeting up for rides. The singletrackworld.com forum is good for mountain biking chat and advice as well.

singletrackworld is now where Momentum does most of his grooming so be careful.

Just buy this and swap the frame. Tempted to try and win it myself and sell all the parts seperately for a few hundred profit!

Sell the frame and swap with one of your choice. The components on that build are very, very good.
Must not by it myself, must not buy it myself...

thats does look a nice bike
never really though about charge as a sweet bike but that looks really nice
maybe we should start a thread about ebay buys that two or three poeple could buy and split the price / partsafter all not everyone is looking for the exactly the same parts
i'm building a single speed jump bike currently and need to source a load of parts ( well i have the wheels so far ) so a lot of bits to source !!! a group buy on a frame and parts or something like this compete bike would be goodif anyone does end up buying that charge and don;'t need all the parts please pm me with what you don't need and I'd be up for handle bars brakes whatever

Hmmm lots of bling on that. Should have gone for black cranks, but those WI's are pretty seductive. I'm in the market for some Hope pro mini's. But in the traditional gunsmoke, to match my headset, seatpost binder, grip doctors, and hubs (which I dont have yet, so am also in the market for).

Also I'm after some crank arms 104 BCD, 175mm. Preferably of the external BB type. I dont need a chainring, BB optional.
General opinion is that you can pick up a bling set (XTR,) and sell on the chainrings, ending up with a lot more for your money, than if you just buy a singlespeed from the offset. This sounds risky and a bit of a PITA to me though. -
• #15
Problem with buying that bike or something with XTR bits to sell on is that I know what I'm like and I'll end up finding an excuse to keep it. And then having to explain it.
My build will be on a budget so tight dogs only dogs will be able to hear it fart...

Agree, very nicely built and finished frames. Had an orange one a couple of years ago and handled really well with a carbon fork.

that Cotic is geared is it not(look at the jungle of cables/hoses.my advice is save up buy
white ind eno eccentric-build wheel ,then you can singlespeed different bikes till the cows come home -
• #22
The Cotic looks like its running an Alfine, but can be run SS no probs.
This looks like a good buy.
Kinesis UK Decade. Tange prestige steel with swopable drop outs to go from geared vertical to singlespeed horizontal.

Far out, so many choices. I have to admit my ignorance.... I had no idea there was that much out there. I'm going to have to build something a touch higher spec than intended. Cant wait to try SS on some trails.
How much adjustment for chain tension is there when comparing an eccentric hub to an eccentric BB?

more on an EBB than a hub.
Before I get UTFS'd - I have. But Specifically does anybody have any tips regarding decent frames?
I don't really have any preferences, but cro-mo steel would be my choice. I used to run an old GT cr-mo XC bike that was just plain good.
I don't have any parts except for a set of shimano 26 disc hub wheels. No idea of what quality level (expecting low) but they were in a bin, so I took em. No signs of damage whatsoever. Also have a steel 39 tooth chainring and a slightly worn KMC chain.
Basically I'm just bored with my old peugeot SS road bike that I commute on. I've always ridden XC/singletrack back in aus and just like the feel and geometry of a MTB. I'll be keeping the pug but mixing up town riding and some tracks somewhere in the UK (suggestions?) with the new bike.
I have thought of buying a GT peace or something but would prefer to build it myself.
