• #3
i'm looking for somewhere similar, anyone have anything?
-

infact pm me do you fancy starting a new warehouse? Am studying/working at greenwich uni so south east london is good for me and close to London bridge?

• #5
^me too^

@ Charco-Running water would be good, yes. A lot of places let you do work on the building in return for rent free periods, so I'm open minded.
Jazzythumper+ Brucy-Sounds really good, I'd be up for having a look around, I'll pm you my number and we could chat.
I suppose if anyone else wants to join in that could be good too?

if you don't mind living in a legal dark grey area (i.e commercial **not **residential zoned properties) try:
http://www.amazing-space.org.uk/
although they are upping their prices with each passing month...

Yeah, Rav is also the hardest person to get hold of as well if you need to chat about somewhere.
I'm in Oslo House in Hackney Wick and there's always spare rooms going in this place, lots of artists and creatives. There's a room going right now in the building, but don't think it's a permanent one. -

i'm an architecture student/tutor so i'd be well up for a little bit of work!

Also looking for a live/work space - needs to be fairly big though, for photo studio and other creative work. Need to be able to install half decent bathroom/kitchen.

what are is everybody looking in se london is ideal for me? Don't know where warehouse spaces can be found, freelancing as a model maker so space would be amazing

I'm currently north - around camden/islington/shorditch. No objection to another area, but would like to stay reasonably central, say 30 mins from west-end / city.

are people serious about this, when do people need to move, I need to find a place by mid september at the latest?
-
• #14
I also rent from Rav/amazing spaces, in a warehouse at Manor House. A few of us got together, rented a space and just built everything ourselves so we got a around 4 months rent free! Good luck...

asap for me, but does depend if I can get out of my 3 month notice on current lease - going to try and get this changed to 1 month. I'm serious, I don't currently have a place to live and I need to move my work space as the current agents/landlord are a bunch of fuckwitts.

This sounds amazing, how much rent do you pay if you dont mind me asking, how much did it cost to build the rooms?
-

I'm guessing that if we aren't paying rent and are chipping in together, and are savvy, it wouldn't cost a huuuuge amount.....
rav does find places which are partially done though.
regards to location-can anyone interested state their preferred locations, and i can have a scout around/ask rav.
mine is either camberwell/peckham rye or bethnal green/vicky park/hckney wick, all of that general area. i do have to go to camberwell everyday so rather not be miles out at seven sisters..... -

we could try to get like 5 together, that might work the best for space/rent balance?
-
• #19
well i'd like to be south and within 2/3 miles of l bridge, is this possible?
-
• #20
camberwell is like a 15 min ride from london bridge. about 3 miles maybe a bit more... I'm pretty flexible and just want to find a practical, good place. I like the sound of a bit south...
doesn't lpg or someone on here live in a warehouse in south london? -

this could be difficult.
I live with four others and we spent three months trying to find a suitable warehouse space that was big enough for 5 without getting pointlessly expensive... ultimately to no avail.
We did, however, find a large detached house in Honor Oak with much more square footage, an actual kitchen, damn near a toilet each and a huge garden with room for large sculpture work (and a shed!) for less rent then any of the warehouse spaces we went to view in Hackney Wick, Seven Sisters, Manor House et al.
I would strongly advise having a look at the SE postcodes...

20/25 minutes to London Bridge to boot.

I'm not sure of exact cost but I think it averages out at around £40/week over the year, no other charges on top of that. Aside of course from the cost of building everything. but if you've got the time and motivation to look around, you pick up a lot of materials, bathroom and kitchen stuff for cheap if not free! I think we've paid an extra £1500 or so, but that's been split five ways.
So yeah, it can be pretty cheap and lots of fun doing, but it does require a lot of time and effort. In saying that, you can get a space that has been somewhat/fully built for you, but you will end up spending more rent.

so is anyone seriously interested in this? Would a meet be a good idea?

anyone looking for a place around hackney wick? (peanut factory area) we've found a 2500sq ft warehouse through rav, from amazing space. It's a 6bed place and we are 2 people short. It's being converted a the moment and will be ready to move in by the 1st of october. We need a holding deposit pretty soon to secure it, would any of you guys be interested?
Just scouting around for places for this year, went to camberwell last year and have another three years there, probably looking for a good place for the year, no longer.
I've got up to about £120 pw and would pref. like to be in a warehouse with other art students/type people. If anyone has anything or knows anyone, let me know??
Thanks
Nik
