  • I'm going to be driving up to Leeds in a few hours to go to a mates wedding.

Tonight I'll be staying with a friend, tomorrow at a hotel, checking out Monday morning.

All of next week I am on holiday- anyone got any suggestions of where to go/what to do in the UK?

I cannot leave the country as the Mrs does not have a passport.

    Cheers!

  • I want to leave the country and go on the piss in Magaluff/Bang-Cock with my mates but the Mrs won't let me.

    Cheers!

    Fixed ;o))))

  • Lake district, peak district, Cornwall all picturesque, and all fairly easy to get to in a car

  • she could maybe pass off as your eldest daughter and travel on your passport,,, apparently your missus looks well young and sprightly, spritely, sprightely

    sorry if i missed something.

  • Friend just emailed me- offering the keys to his place in the Lake District.

Now just waiting for him to email me back about getting them!

  • well done.

is it that obvious is that what it looks like, not the case. i'm the son of a preacher man don't ya know.

  • So near yet so far- Lakes cottage has fallen through.

I'll head to Leeds and just hope that something comes up.

  • Good shout, the Lakes. It's gorgeous there.

  • York
    Harrogate

    Both nice places

  • ^ Betty's Tea Rooms, innit.

  • Harrogate was really nice when I went there last, I'll be slinging the tent in the boot- anyone know where to camp around there?

  • I'd recommend a drive up the coast... Seeing as you'll be in Leeds you can gently pootle up to the Northumbrian coast stopping along the way then cross the Penines through Penrith and come back down through the Lakes... I've done that route and it's beautiful... Failing that, load the boot of the Volvo with as many class A's as you can, book a suite at a fancy 5-star near Leeds and shag like rabbits for a week... I've also been down this route... Toss a coin and see what happens... ;)

  • the latter sounds more enjoyable :0

  • Went to mates wedding in Leeds- bright times.

Then went camping just outside Harrogate, not that impressed but ok.

Now camping just outside a little village called Greetham- posting this from The Plough, great pub with fantastic food.

  • Previous picture does not really place enough emphasis on the size difference between the tent and the car:

You should have put all the stuff in the tent and slept in the car as you would have had more room ;o))

  • The thought had crossed our minds, the car is more waterproof also.

However due to a risible oversight in the design process it lacks curtains.

  • They would have steamed up ;o)) ;o))

Dammit, they're some evil looking clouds your camping under.

  • Charco- hence why I am in the pub, first post jaw break steak consumed and more beer on the table.

It is pissing it down here- Diable's puerile contributions may turn into a reality as I am wondering about putting the rear seats down and sleeping in the car.

    Hopefully tomorrow will be sunny.

Oh, and I finally had the suspension changed for fully adjustable Koni units so the car is now very firmly damped.

  • Make sure the car doesn't get bogged down I see it is facing downhill but how far is it to the road?

  • Anyone else noted the face of Our Saviour in the cloud?
