Ur gonna put tubs on the carlton?! Did you get some new wheels then - lessave alook! :)
-
• #3
No, just a massive school boy error. The omega 19's that are on the carlton have turned out to be tubs!
Those tires are nackered so I'll just put tubs on for now, then rebuild with silver pen pros when I've got the money and I guess free-cycle the omegas on here.
The only good thing is I think the tubs will be gum walled which is a better look I think.

thumbs up to that. i just got the continental giro tubs, 14 quid and way better than the vittoria rally for the same money..
-
• #5
^ Thanks, worth noting. Called condor and they said michelin... or maybe it was conti's? Not sure.
Were the continental giro tubs online or LBS? - also how have they stood up to LDN roads?
-
• #6
these are white? all the way? white as white can be? as white as a KKK wizard covered in talcum powder?

Are you joking!!
Have you ever actually ridden tubs? Conti Giros are without question the single worst tubular tyre ever to be in production. The have zero redeeming features!
I would not use Conti Giro's if they where free and I was paid to use them!
Get some vittoria rallys they are infinity better!
-
• #8
NO. They are white with the little black line where the dirt from the road is going to go, so you won't even notice...
... the more I look at them the more gutted I am.

Is this a serious comment? Why are they that bad?

I have a (very slightly) similar situation.
I have some shamal tub wheels and some atlanta 96 clinchers for my road bike. The shamal's look nice, but I can run my white rubinos on the atlantas, which might swing it.

Very much serious.
Giros are nasty molded plastic rubbish, atleast 1 step down from very bad clinchers. Rallys are proper constructed tubular tires, that feel like tubs to ride, grip well and have good puncture protection.

Oh, the guy I called at Condor said Giros over Vittoria's... and the Vittoria's cost more!?
-
• #13
The buy them at decathlon, they are £9.99
-
• #14
The guy at Condor must be a numpty then. I was given a Giro Continental once and I literally couldn't give it away, everyone I know who rides tubs turned it down. They are shit.
-
• #15
fuck... I guess its a good job I didn't just cycle down to Condor and picked some up over the Vittoria's on his say so, isn't it?
Edit: that's exactly what I just did, so I guess its time to go back.... thank God I spend my time on here instead of getting on and doing things, otherwise they'd be fitted by now.

... But they were the last ones on the shelf... surely that must mean they're super popular?

Basicaly today has taught me that I am retarded.
On the bright side, now I know this I should be able to cope better with what life has to throw at me.
Also... can somebody please buy these off me, I am willing to p/x for a hand job.

Easy dude, yeah i been on rally's for 2months now and like em
i bought 2 rally's a bit over a month ago, they do ride well yes for the price, however both tyres have had the white cloth gluing bit come away from the tyre....
nice....
the giro is cheap yeah but like it's profile while sat on the rim and does what it is meant too, when i have the cash i will most certainly step up to some decent set of velo's or the like...
i'm glad you feel so strongly about this though.... i love the tubs and want to get some good uns..
i did in fact go back to buy vittoria's but think condor, as mentioned elsewhere may have had a bad batch so steared me elsewhere..
gave em a go, no issues as yet...

• #24
edit: I think I over reacted - KINGCUTTER's link is to Zaffiro's, which we all know are shit as they only pump up to 14psi.
