OMG dancing james knows my name!
If we all used the search, the forum would become a little stale no?
Besides, it was an awkward thing to search for.

If it's like for like rim swapping. Tape spokes together at last cross. Then just remove all nipples and swap rim across. Make sure the rim is the same way round, i.e the key spoke is in the same across both rims and in the correct orientation.
Or use this method http://www.gsportbmx.com/ask/index.php#q7

Thanks tommy, I was actually looking for that little gsport guide. I think I will try the spoke by spoke method, its a 9speed wheel.

if like for like, tape new rim to old rim in line with valve hole, release tension on all spokes bit by bit, then start swapping one spoke at a time, when all spokes sorted rip off taped old rim and start to true.

Depends if you want to replace the spokes as well. Or if the hub needs a clean which is easier with all the spokes removed. But easiest way is as above doing one spoke at a time. As long as you have the same rim of course otherwise you will need new spokes if the new ERD is different. A little drop of oil on the threads before replacing the nipple.

gsport lust. they should make some fixed stuff.
Hi, was wondering if anybody here is familiar with the process of changing a rim on a bike wheel.
Is it better to detach old rim completely or somehow transfer each spoke one by one onto new rim?
