Measuring Spokes

Posted on
  • Hi Guys,
Ok this may be another retarded question but forgive me as i've just fallen off and am slightly shaken: i was riding a vittoria rubino with no tread on the fron (lesson now learnt) in the rain, slip, down i go and i have buckled front wheel and a saddle torn to shreds (thank fuck i didnt put the brooks on there yet!) so now i have taken the totally loose screwed spokes out of the wheel, measuring them; is it just as simple as getting a ruler?

    Cheers guys
    Will

  • ok i have UTFS now that i have come back into my senses, no mention of whether to measure the threaded part or not :S i know to measure from the elbow bend to . . (insert wheel building knowledge please)

  • elbow to end including threads.

  • KK, does 295mm sound reasonable for miche laced to MA3?

  • According to http://lenni.info/edd/ miche front large flange + mavic MA3 doesn't equal 295mm

But you're not giving a lot of info as to flange size or which rim :)

  • it equals 293.3mm close enough :)

  • il just buy some 293mm spokes
