  • During a brief wait in the reception of a large office complex yesterday,
the receptionist (obviously junior) made several small mistakes (may have been new), instead of apologising (or shutting the f..k up) she repeatedly said
"my bad", "my bad", also in a really obvious way...
has anyone else come across this or other figures of speech that people regard as currently 'hip'.?

  • 'Cunt' never goes out of style

  • is this a joke?

  • 'fixie skidder'

  • 'My bad' is really pissing me off, particularly as I have started using it.

  • I hate when people say 'chillax'. That does my nut!!!

  • Does my nut

  • i stabbed a bird that said chillax last weekend, my bad.

  • I hate people that say 'ta'

  • 'Dropped a bollock' - old skool classic beloved of Warehousemen everywhere

  • Can't stand people saying, "you're a star".

  • People who say "damp squid" instead of "damp squib".AAAAAARRRRGH!

  • 'fixie skidder'

keep up. it's all about 'fixie-nodder' now

  • And the casual "No problem!" when you say thank you to a service you are paying for.

  • when people say 'Absolutely' to everything.

  • i stabbed a bird that said chillax last weekend, my bad.

Good job!!! Maybe we should make a list of known people you know have say it then line em up and shoot them ;)

  • when people say 'Absolutely' to everything.

    Absolutely

  • A phrase which seems to have infected my office recently is "what it is" used instead of "the reason I wanted to talk to you" or indeed any other phrase describing why they want to communicate something.

Leading to the rather inelegant "what it is is that it is..."

  • And the casual "No problem!" when you say thank you to a service you are paying for.

    C'est rein

  • Like,

  • ya get me bruv?

  • Jeez, these hipsters are butchering the English language. Everyone knows its vocabulary, phrases and figures of speech were supposed to stay EXACTLY THE SAME from when they were created the day you were born, not be subject to influence from vomits Other Cultures.

  • cheers folks keep em coming,
I had a fun game in a meeting yesterday too when this guy used "thats the classic thing" 7 times in 30 minutes--I was doing a tally as he was speaking I shit you not!

  • I think there is a difference between cultural cross polination of language and the youth of today having a 300 word/phrase vocabulary.

    lol, etc.

  • when people say 'can't be asked' instead of 'can't be arsed' I've never been too sure which is right, the second makes more sence?
