I was 7 and I got up at 05.00 especially to watch the landings on our black and white tv. Still amazing 40 years on.

bit drastic, but look up the flat earth society, hilarious stuff because apparently the pictures of earth being round (to the untrained eye!) don't disprove their theory.

why don't we just train some of these high powered telescopes at the moon and look for footprints !
although the yanks probably flew a mission there to drop of the stuff that should have been there in '69 a few years later

I was at scout camp. We listened to the landings on the transistor radio (wireless) around the camp fire.

One moment of huge history that happened in my young life and the bloody scout masters didn't have the imagination or forethought to take us somewhere we could watch on television. I left the scouts shortly afterwards. My daughters were never allowed to join the brownies, guides or scouts.

Shortly afterwards a friend of my father gave me a copy of a photograph that he had taken of his television screen with Armstrong on the moon. Wtf was that about?

Isn't the Scouts just a place where young boys get touched?

I was never abused. Two years of scouts and ten years of Jesuit run boarding schools and never even a fumble. When the police mounted an invstigation into child abuse at my school, they interviewed everyone I know except me. They must have heard that I was a singularly unattractive child.

Some terrific quotes about his experiencing isolation previously unknown to man when he was by himself behind the moon.

I'm not knocking it, I just wanted to make sure for when I have kids. You can never be too careful these days, my Nephew goes to a playschool thing and all they do is sit around painting and drawing and having fun. That's a bit shit eh?
