27" tyres

  • i know we havent had a good tyre thread for a week so i thought id post one ;)
What are good tyres which one can skid on that are made in 27" size? at the moment im having trouble finding any . . . this is the prime problem stopping me from getting 27" wheels for my bike rather than 700s. . .

  • could you get 700c tyres and file them down?

  • is that a joke!? and no you cant do that, there is too much of a gap

  • sorry.
i'm not in a very helpful mood.

  • mmm no worries. . .

  • No such thing, Panaracer Paselas are the closest thing you'll find... Gatorskins also come in 1 1/4", but they're massive... Moonboot stylee...

  • Bugger, i think its 700c then

  • @rocker9455.

I fitted Continental Ultra sport 27 x 1 1/8. Not used much yet, so cannot comment on durability.
    £25 pair from Velokit.co.uk

I have 27's and conti gatorskins on here. I think they look ok...

Are wearing well too, although I have only ridden about 80 miles... but absoloubtly no visable wear... saying that, I havent done more than 2 skids, and baby ones at that... I'm much more a fan of slower controld stops and my front brake...

  • I would avoid Ultra Sports, quite possibly the shittest tyre I've ever used...
