Goddammit, England, what's your deal!? Ok, maybe this means we have to ... what? Definitely find a venue besides Souths (how many people would come to Souths?) that would allow us to BBQ? Maybe The Greyhound, it's not exactly central but it's not south either and they'd let us BBQ.

England - small country with a big population so it makes sense esp in London with limited green spaces. Anyway a gentleman should never be seen BBQing - luckily I'm not a gentleman.

NYC has a big population and you can BBQ in almost any park - there are designated public grills!
Ok, but the problem with London Fields and no designated grills is then someone has to buy/bring portable ones! Hmm....should we just make and bring food there beforehand?

I had a bbq last summer outside the Ship in Hammersmith. One of those ones you buy for a tenner from tezzas. Burnt the grass right off.
By all accounts no grass has grown back in that square this year!!

I did mine on a stone wall in a park front of my flat last year in York when I had a iam.bmezine meet.
No problems from anyone...PS when buying a portable make sure it has like this wee wire rack thingy like shown in my pic to keep it off the surface.

did your head get near it???
Hey all, my birthday is at the end of this month and my friend's is about four days later. I was planning on having a shindig (Ved, you said you'd make my cake, I hope you're still in for that! [carrot cake w/cream cheese frosting]) somewhere somewhat central so that all our peeps can make it.
I'd like to BBQ. I was thinking a park, a buncha people, and booze in plastic containers but a) don't know if that's possible and b) what if it rains? So I'm turning to the forum to request suggestions for venues that we can converge on who WON'T CHARGE to have us. I can deal with not being able to bring out own booze so long as we can cook out.
Suggestions, an attendee list and what food you all think rocks and would like to share with friends. Thanks!
