My only issue is that the shorts seem to have a different interpretation of what water-proof means than I do.

Haha not far at all, shoreditch high street to tooley st basically, far enough to get drenched to fuck though!
I'd be much more miserable if it was my old commute, i've done 9 miles in this kind of weather with no waterproofs or just a waterproof jacket, and its well shit without the proper clothing for it!
