UTFS! Oh wait...

• #3
I think it is ok to rip the shit out of someone as long as you temper it with a helpful comment afterwards.
-
• #4
If you're not going to use the search, fuck off and save yourself and others the grief.
-
• #5
If you are just going to post UTSF YET AGAIN for the hundredth time
It's UTFS no UTSF. UTSF would just be plain rude :)

+1 for balance - if you're going to be a cock say something marginally useful as well, we all learn better through positive reinforcement. -

I am all for new members of this forum. 10,000 members is a wonderful tribute to VB even if 50% of them are Object and OOL in different guises.
New members should, however, use this site properly. If they want advice, there is plenty already here. They are more likely to pick up useful tips by using the search rather than posting inane questions. There is a very good thread telling new members how to use this site. No harm in reminding them providing that it is done in a loving way. That is what Balki is for.

To all those newbies who seem to want to start a new thread, please try not to, the members of this forum are looking forward to taking the piss out of you in a condesending manner.
If you are not going to UTFS yet again, for the hundredth time why bother asking the people who can be assed to. Save yourself the effort, your sanity and the webspace and just keep out.
There's no point is creating tension when it really isn't necessary.Add your bit of wisdom if you feel the need but don't start a thread just because you haven't been on here since day 1.

Next up, jostling. Every forum has it's fair share of new members being initiated by the old timers by some friendly ribbing. But sometimes this can go too far, especially if (without searching first) you ask an oft-repeated, tired, or dumb question in your first post. It's not pleasant to watch new members get ripped to shreds, and really I'm doing you the biggest favour by forcing you to search first and look around before you ask... the guys here can be merciless towards the new, so say hello first and search thoroughly before you ask stuff. The result, yeah there's still some jostling, but not much, and the place is a hell of a lot friendlier for it and that is priceless.
You will please note that after delivering an initial flame and letting that sink in I'm generally looking for the threads that I know the newbie didn't bother to read in order to add them to their repeat thread. If you haven't worked out how I operate yet, you're probably not reading enough because of being swamped by repeated questions you can't be fucked looking at.. so nyer. :P

Question is . . why are these noobs not reading the Welocme/How to/Tips for using/ etc parts of the nursery?
To all those posters who seem to get wound up about newbies asking questions please try not to, they are looking for our advise not our condesending posts.
If you are just going to post UTSF YET AGAIN for the hundredth time why bother leave it to people who can be assed to answer the question. Save yourself the effort, your sanity and the webspace and just keep out.
There's no point is creating tension when it really isn't neccessary.
