  • Hi Y'all...

I am having a bit of a sale to recover some of the cash I've spent on ... well... ebay, so...

This is a 22" 531 framed fixed gear bike as you can see. The bike was originally badged 'Emperor Sport', I've searched around but have not been able to find who built it, but it was a frame builder somewhere in the south London area according to the original owner. I can guarantee the frame/fork/stays are double butted 531 because i removed the decal to repaint it, and the tubes have the same characteristic 'butted ping' when you flick them as my other 531 and 753 bikes.

    Frame is 22" centre/top, and 22" c/c top tube.

The frame has clearances for mudguards and eyelets, nicely cut pointed lugs, no top tube cable hangers to get snagged on, and attractive wrap-around seat stays. The paintjob is a bit experimental. I think it looks ace, kind of reptilian!

Wheels are Sovos track hubs laced to Mavic T217 SUP rims (36 hole) with double butted spokes. Very strong wheels handbuilt by John Williams in Neath, hardly any brake wear, they are both true. Tyres are Vittoria Zaffiro (rear) and Rubino (front), both kevlar protected and both hardly any wear.
I don't have a lockring for the sprocket but have used locktight to secure it and it has not come loose yet. Dirt Harry brake lever and Weinmann caliper/Fibrax pads are there to stop you just in case.

Brand new DMR zip grips on Specialized flat bar and no name stem. Tange headset and bottom bracket are not silky smooth but work fine. Planet X seatpost and Iscatelle Tornado suede saddle, a bit scuffed but very comfy. Don't really want to let the saddle go but it suits the bike so well.

Crank set is a Campag lookalike 170mm SR Apex with 144bcd drilled ring. Sprocket is 15 tooth. No pedals.

I'm looking for around £300. I can post anywhere in the UK for £25.

    Cheers,

    Reub/rooski

  • What size is the frame?

  • Hi

would you consider posting to Spain?

    size?

  • Frame size please!

  • look like a 55cm one, I love the paintjob!

  • +1 Paint is sweet

How do you sell a bike with no size?

  • paint job is great but saddle & grips need to go

  • how did you do the paintjob?

  • ^string?

  • how did you do the paintjob?

dip your penis in a pot of white paint, and then shake it.

  • ^ha

    lovely paintjob indeed.

  • Sorry, what a muppet. I have now added the frame size info - its 22" centre/ top, and 22" centre/ centre top tube. Paint was indeed done with the dip/splash method... no, I tell a lie, it was string and cotton wrapped over the base white coat, then the green was sprayed from side on. Passionflowers, i'll look into postage costs to Spain for you.

  • I've just edited the post and it has disappeared.... if it doesn't show up i'll have to re-post again (sobs).

  • I feel a great disturbance in the power.

On the other hand, you made crivens look a bit retarded.

  • I've re-posted... please see other post.

  • thanks Rooski, can you link the new post? I don't see it anywhere?

  • How strange, my photos are back! Ok, well, since thinking I'd lost this post's content, I have reposted here... http://www.londonfgss.com/thread25044.html All the same info and photos.

Indeed, there was a disturbance in the force...

  • yo! anyone tell me about any threads re. converting a reynolds 531 with vertical(ish) drops into a fixed wheel bike?? do i need to do anything to the frame to stop my chain getting slack? i just went to brick lane bikes and the woman didnt really given me answer other than "itll cost you £300"...

sorry, i know this isnt the right thread but im new to this and they wont let start my own thread! bastards.

    cheers folks

  • You can either find a 'magic gearing' which will take a bit of experimentation but will cost (theoretically) nothing, or you can get the dropouts changed to track ends which will require welding. Obviously costs more (I believe somewhere in the region of £40, not sure where I've pulled that figure from, mind) but will mean you can be more flexible with your gearing should you wish to change it or use a fixed/fixed hub.

  • cycle lust! fucking too big tho innit!

    • Get an eccentric rear hub
    • Get lucky with a half link chain
    • Have track ends welded on instead of the vertical dropouts.

Personally I would do the first option if the 2nd looks unlikely to work - If you find you really like fixed riding *then *you can spend money on a proper track frame.

Plus you can always change it back to geared if you ever want to.

  • cool cool cool. ENO hub thingy is way too much. tempted to go for horizontal ends welded on but think it will have to me "magic gearing" and half-link chain if it works. kinda wish id just stumped up for a track frame now. its all so expensive.

just started stripping my frame and discovered the seat posts jammed too. argh. they dont tell you look for that when you buy a second hand bike.

    thanks guys

  • Just buy an older road frame with horizontal dropouts. Search the classifieds - Just change the search prefix to 'For Sale' and search for "Frame", etc

  • too late!!

  • Sell it then
