For the aid of all newbs, I thought we could have a Glossary thread, so that the less knowledgable can begin to understand WTF half these posts are about.

ctc - centre to centre ie measuring frame, centre point of end of tubing
ctt - centre to top
BLB - brick lane bikes, fixed gear shop which sells good bikes at not so good prices
LBS - local bike shop
RLJ - red light jumping
BCD - ...... chain diamter, spacing on chainrings
16T - 16 tooth sprocket
fakenger - someone who dresses/acts/rides/has a bike like a messenger, but not is a messenger
fixies - fixed gear riders
ss - single speed

I though BCD = Bolt Circle Diameter, the dia of the holes where you chainring bolts fit.

actual bolt hole width always same, but you measure from centre out to bolt hole ;) for BCD

fixie = horrible term.

BillB I though BCD = Bolt Circle Diameter, the dia of the holes where you chainring bolts fit.

Bolt Circle Diameter is a the size of the circle created on the crank spider by the bolt holes. The lower the diameter, the closer to the BB they are.

oops, read it wrong, it is centre to centre across the bolt holes

Campagmano/Shimanolo - (sometimes Horrible - depending on your POV*) mishmash of Campag and Shimano parts

I'm sure you could apply it to other bike parts
Michour - Miche/Suntour (heaven forbid)
Dia-conman - Dia-Compe/Weinman

etc....

*POV - erm.... point of view

cup & cone bearings - You will spend a lot of time with your hands covered in grease and that mysterious black dust scrabbling around under cupboards looking for recalcitrant bearings
