On at least three separate occasions I have watched people post serial numbers to forums (not always cycling forums) and their computers have exploded. You have been warned. -

You could, for example, go into more detail. Was this serial number on a bicycle part? If yes, which one. Maybe the make and model of said bicycle part would help, too.

my bad. yes on bb. bike had no stickers or nuffin on it and last night i stripped paint off to find just this number. it is a fixie convertion but has braze ons for gears/ pump etc loads of dents too. steel frame. all tigged and some brazed on bits. drop outs facing front wheel....
