bmx stems all use 22.2mm handlebars, and you can get them in 1" quill or 1 1/8" ahead. The only difference is you need handlebars with the 22.2 diameter. Look for cruiser bmx race riser bars which will fit, you can only run risers with them.
for example these would fit:

i've used 25.4 bars with a 22.2 bmx clamp. works fine just doesn't completely close around the bars, but does tighten enough. i think 22.2 top load style clamp stems can take up to 26.0.

So far i've got the following on my bike:
Bmx Pedals
Bmx Stem
Bmx diameter riser bars
Bmx Grips
Bmx Cranks
Bmx Chainring
Bmx Euro BB
Bmx SeatpostSo in conclusion I would say there are lots of components you can use :)

So BMX stems are for 1 1/8 steerers? or at least can be? I dont really know the standard sizing's fir bmx...
-
• #8
bmx standard is 1 1/8"
1" is dead, only some cheap replacement stems for kid bikes available -

I want to see an Odyssey Elementary stem on a fixed bike. That would look pretty cool I think.

i am sure you did a wrong measure.

ok, but dont do it ;)
when the bar is in its bend.
check out open prison bar for proper fitting on bmx stem.
dont use super light weight KIDS racing bars.

I have to admit headsets/ stems where my my thinking - and funnily enough on a fuji track too - anyone got any other pics of bmx stuff on their bike?
-
• #18
fuji track?
Fuji trick? Yeah its a fuji. Not the most glorious of frames but i likes it.

pm Flickwg and ask him about his set up. If you're into BMX stems on a Fixed.
-
• #20
Well it's just something i'm toying with - my last few builds have been classic type jobs and I've got hold of this fuji track and I dont think it's suit that so might build a bike more in the trick bike vein... at least it'll sell well on ebay if I shift it! hahahaha
@Archi... I'll do that very thing

i dont mean to be an arse, but why would you want a bmx stem? is it just for looks or does it have any practical purpose? they all look too short to be comfortable on a track geometry frame, but i can see that maybe barspins are easier.
-

No it's looks.... Just pootling along with this build and fancied trying out a few other bits - i've never installed a threadless headset before and never used a stem of that tyoe before (are they called clamp stems?) so though why not go all the way and build one of those 'big bmx' type builds all the cool kids are riding - It's nowt serious, just playing with ideas for something to do with a cheap frame...
I do quite like the look of those stems instead though.... hmmm

Been done loads now, just check out half the bikes in 14, I might put an elementary on when I get some spare cash, they are a work of engineering beauty!

Strength is why I run one, my Odyssey GI is ridiculously beefy!

I know, I've still got a V1 on my BMX. Sexiest stem ever.
Having never really been a big bmx'r i dont really know the sizes and compatibility of components - waht bmz can you use fairly readily ona project I'm building at the mo... or juts for future ref. It's the stems I'm think of in particular...
Thanks all
