  • Need some help from some seasoned riders.

1 Does anyone know if the stronglight myra track crank is any good? (£60 IS ABOUT MY BUDG 4 CRANK AND BB)

2 I need a back wheel, formula hub laced to cxp33, araya deep v (off the onza uno) or velocity or suggestions in same budget.

3 Does anyone know anywhere selling those araya deep v's. I spoke to tokyofixed and max said they may just be badged as araya.

4 I know this a personal thing, but can anyone suggest a ratio good for a nubee, I have pretty strong knees, dont mind stamping down (a bit) to get going. Smooth and fast is what i'm looking for!

Just waiting for the insults to role in...... thanks

    1. Spend a bit extra and go with Sugino messengers, most cranks that are £60 for cranks and a bb are gonna be shit, sugino messengers are half decent for a little more cash, well worth it.

    2. Did you miss the whole classifieds section on this forum......no really, did you? Endless back wheels etc for sale there if you want second hand.

3.According to their website this is the only current clincher "kinda v-section" rim they do in 700c. http://www.araya-kk.co.jp/rim/catalog/15_ar-01.htm if thats not the one then you are either looking at re-badged rims or NOS rims that will be difficult to get hold of as a limited number in existence, failing that go with some velocity deep v's or Rigida DP18's both very good quality strong v-section rims, from what I have seen recently the DP18's appear to be a little bit stronger.

    1. I think its time for the mandatory "Use the fucking search" for this one, I recommend the phrase "gear ratios"
  • @ CrazyJ, thanks for info bro, I do check the classifieds but always seem to get beat 2 the nice shit. must admit I'm proper shit on the computer as I'm in the building game, and yes I will " Use the fucking search" cheers.

  • anything over 100GI should be fine for commuting / urban riding.

  • anything over 100GI should be fine for commuting / urban riding.

    100GI is a polo gear.. 120 is a gentlemen's gearing

  • I use 115 for gentle rides but if going out of London into the Surrey Hills for training I find a 130+ kinder to my knees and more helpful on brakeless descents.

  • ..to amarillo

  • that would be 'god's gearing' of 54 - 11
it also gives me 11 skid patches for when i do leg-over-the-bar skids

At least one of the responses was useful, (more then most threads.)

(They look very much like an Andel crankset so should be OK quality)
