  • When I first started using this site I used to go online in lectures on my phone when I was bored. It would remember I had logged in so I could just open my browser and start posting. Since a few months ago it won't stay logged in for some reason. I've tried checking that box that has no description next to it and it makes no difference. Is there some setting I've changed in my options or user cp that has affected this?

It's a hipster-tastic iPhone in case that makes a difference?

Anyone else noticed the same problem? I know it doesn't seem like such a big deal but the way iPhone handles typing in little login boxes is shit and having to login every time really infuriates me. I'm a man of little patience...

  • I haven't seen this, but then I don't have an iPhone. If multiple people report it and it looks like something I might be able to replicate without an iPhone then I can look into it.

  • Thanks!

  • Same happens to me - and thats on the thinking mans choice of phone, Nokia E71.

Would be great if this got fixed - I use my phone a lot for general browsage.

    Cheers,

    Pluck

  • similar for me on the E61, just won't log in, not even an error message for incorrect details. enter username and password, hit submit (or whatever it says) and it reloads the sign in page with my details removed.

  • Works fine on my iphone. But the search function doesn't - when I try to search for something it just comes up with the lastest posts.

  • Signing in works fine on an E51 - not tried staying signed in between sessions though

  • Works on my iPhone, logs into the full graphical version of the site absolutely fine.

  • Hmm, my iPhone browser defaults to the mobile version for some reason. Is it possible to manually choose the full version?

  • This didn't happen with my google phone, but does happen with Opera on a cheap Nokia thing.

  • Right, digging up an old thread...

For some damn foolish reason, I recently got a Nokia N97. I can get onto the forum marvellously with it, but for some reason, it jumps pages without me asking to do it, and it seems to go to specific pages each time. It loves the Audax Rides page for example, literally can't get enough of it. That and any thread with Hippy at the top of the page.

Has my phone gone all 2010 Hipster on me? Are my adult digits just too big for a generation that's growing funny texting thumbs? Have I been sold a hooky?

    Get an Iphone!

Oh and when will we be getting the LGFSS Iphone app?

  • When you make one?

  • I'm happy to support anyone who wants to make an iPhone app.

What the hell would it look like though? And why wouldn't it just be a web page?

Oh, and by support I mean I'll buy you a few beers for it, not that I'll pay for off-shore development of it or anything.

  • Get an Iphone!

But an iphone costs money innit. This piece of useless hardware was free. It doesn't necessarily work, but its free. Oh and it came with some speakers that I'm going to mount to a bag, so I can be like Clefty and have tunes on the move.

I haven't the faintest idea of programming, but it maybe worth starting a thread about in order to source a programmer. Ortherwise if you are willing to finance it I would have to put on hold my degree and move to the bahamas for a few months to get it all sorted!

Apps arent web pages, they store information on the device. So alla Mbox (hotmail app) it downloads the headers of each email/topic when you go in to a specific folder and then downloads the message/thread once you select it.

It would make it easier for people to use the forum on the move as it doen't have to download so much initial information. For the moment the web isn't too bad, but if you do develop an LGFSS Iphone app then you may charge a small fee for it also, another sorce of income for you guys.

  • Guy.

And downloading things on demand... a list of threads, or message content?

Hmm, still sounds extremely similar to hitting a link on a web page.

  • And if it's downloaded and saved for later, it seems like you'd be missing out on the fluidity of conversations on the forum...

  • What we really need is a Google Wave iPhone app and to integrate the back of the forum into Google Wave.

  • Google wave looks interesting.

  • woah, that sounds too cool for school,
if its worth mentioning the prehistoric palm treo I got logs in perfectly, just refreshes whenever I want to surf again.

  • Are my adult digits just too big for a generation that's growing funny texting thumbs?

    This made me laugh.

And then it made me sad.

  • Oh and when will we be getting the LGFSS Iphone app?

Perhaps when someone starts a web-site called LGFSS? ;)

  • Hey vb, I just found this thread as I'm trying to search for a member on my blackberry.
There doesn't seem to be a way though. Suggestions? Maybe I'm just blind.

Also when posting a new comment from my bb it never starts a new line. Just keeps writing and writing till I hit return. Small problem but kind of annoying.

I read the threads above about not keeping one signed in. My bb
Does a great job of this but my laptop (Mac -bth tiger and leopard) won't.
I always tick "remember me" but it never does. It does keep mike signed in even though he doesn't tick "remember me"

    Suggestions?
