  • I am aware that if we made a habit of posting about accidents happened to non forumengers in other countries there'd be so much that we'd quickly need another forum for that alone. However, this one is so grotty I had to share it with you.

A 13 year old girl is hit by a lorry somewhere in Norway. The lorry is thought to have had a low speed so she is knocked over but still conscious when she is on the ground. The lorry drives over the girl without seeing her and she is left in the road on her own. The car coming after the lorry somehow doesn't see her either whilst running over her too. She is then dragged under the second car for 4 kilometers! Still conscious here as well.
The police has then made conflicting statements, one says she was found underneath the parked car where the owner lived, another says she was found alone in the road close to where the owner of the car lived but that she had detached from the car and the owner had driven on unknowingly.

The map below is annotated in Norwegian but the arrows simply tell you where she was hit and where she was found. She has loads of injuries, including head injuries and broken limbs. Her condition is critical.

  • Further to that, she was found under the parked car outside the owners house.....

  • I know it's not a constructive comment, but:
    "fuck..."

  • and she's still alive?! Foooking hell, that's horrible. Poor kid.

  • How the hell can you not notice that?!

  • I used to work with this little scrote that was always driving when stoned. He hit a guy one night on the way home and dragged him under his van for over a mile. The victim was dead of course by the time he got there, such a grizzly way to die. He is in prison now as far as I know?

  • loud music.. pot holes...etc as the driver will say, but we know it is often just pure fucking reckless aggressive driving.. poor kid

  • According to NRK.no the girl is no longer in a life threatening critical condition. Now described as serious but stable.

Two days ago the son of the lady I work with had this happen to him..

While working for an electrical company during the summer holidays, he was helping to lay fibre optic cable. He was in the process of rolling up some cable which was laying across the road, and had signaled to a motorist to stop, so as not to damage the cable. It was taking a good few minutes to roll up the cable, and in the end the motorist just drove regardless. The cable became tangled on the car, and around the shin of my collegues son, and he was dragged for some meters before the driver noticed after going around a sharpe bend. He is now in hospital because the incredible pressure his leg has been subjected to.

Are people driving in comas in Norway at the moment?

  • They are becoming Australian by the sounds of things.

  • Are they all drunk cos its midsummer?

  • Jesus, if she recovers from that I'd classify that as a miracle really - getting run over twice and dragged 4kms.

  • The next hope is that because she is young she will not scar too much and the bones will heal well.

  • this is sooo incredibly f*cked! the one thing i find comforting besides that she seems to get out of this alife is that in norway, both the drivers face serious time as the (traffic) laws are rather strict and with in comparison one of the highest punishments in europe for traffic things.

heal well, and put these ppl away for good.

I'm no expert but I think theres some sort of zero tolerance rule regarding car/ped collisions. So that even if you decide to throw yourself infront of a car, it would still be the driver, that is liable. This means people often walk out into to road, without really looking, as motorists should be alert.

Wether or not this is a good rule is a bit of a tricky discussion point really. All I can say as a foreigner living in Norway, is that it scares the hell out of me. I subsequently dont drive very much.

  • put these ppl away for good.

Hmmm. You can say that, but clearly neither motorist saw the child, and I'm sure they're both horrified. Without knowing the details of how/why TWO random people failed to notice her, I think it's a bit much to call for them to locked up forever. It doesn't mean they were *necessarily *driving badly.

But having said that I'm fucking curious as to how they didn't see her. I mean...fuck!

    +1

The police say they believe the girl was crossing the road when she was first hit. They dont say wether she had dismounted from her bike or not. So the initial impact may not have been entirly the drivers fault. Still find it had to fathom how they did'nt notice though.

  • wow, amazing she is still alive! what a strong little girl.

i wonder who finally noticed her? do you think they heard her when they got out of the car? shit!!!!

  • How do you drive dragging a person for a few miles without feeling any difference? Was the driver on glue or something?

Huh? That's like telling whether or not you have someone sitting in the back, or whether you have shopping in the boot - which clearly you couldn't.

If it was a 13 year elephant I could understand it, but not a little girl.

Is there a news site in english to this story? It's kinda incredible.

well said, just feel unbelievable angry about this accident. i know if in front of a proper truck you're not really to be seen and that girl could have come out on the road from nowhere, let's see as they say class mates saw the whole thing happen. but as a car driver being so close to a truck to not get a grasp at the road and or not noticing something getting under your car is absolutely not excusable and bad. not noticing is rather likely not caring and a whatever attitude. driving a car one can feel different grain of surface and bugs hitting the windscreen let alone a person getting stuck. it's just so very sad.

as far as i know from norwegian friends, did the police come to the accident location only to find the bike, as class mates saw the whole thing going down, they followed up the car to then find the girl, all in a short time period as it seems.

Had a look around but couldn't find it.

Found this picture though. Who would have thought eh?

  • i still can't believe this story!!! is there any news on how she is?

  • christ. my thoughts are with her and her family. how must her friends feel seeing that, doesn't bear thinkin about
