Filming at Tuesday Trix

Posted on
  • I really wish we'd done this when the whole Tuesday Trix* started last July, but I really want to start filming people up there and recording their progression. Anyone up for it? I'll edit it and get it on Vimeo, but I can't unless people want to get filmed.

    Anyone?

*Sorry, I just can't call it 'Trixie Dix'...

  • Everyone's really good now. I tend to stay away :-)

  • Maybe, but everyone started somewhere!

And there's lots of people who come who are 'less' good. It's a really supportive learning environment.

Lots of fun, too. And there is usually beer from the '6 for fiver' shop down the road...

  • i went from a no trick pony to doing skids, trackstands, no handed trackstands and 180 skids in about 2 weeks (they are tricks in my book!). I havent been in a while which explains the stagnation, but yeah it really is a supportive bunch and you can learn quickly!

  • Good idea, I think as long as people know they might be filmed it shouldn't be a problem. They should just speak up if they don't want to be in the final edit.

  • Awesome idea :)

  • I thought you'd be into it, James... ;p

I'm not going to film people who don't want to be filmed, like some two-wheeled stalker weirdo... If they're in the background, I can't do much about it.

  • I thought you'd be into it, James... ;p

He isn't really, he's just tricking you.

  • I can deep throat two dudes at once. Wanna film that?

  • You been drinking?

  • Actually, why not?

You should probably go for three dudes, though – it's too easy if we just film what you can already do

    See?

  • Well up for that! I will set my surly up for some trickery of the fixed kind.

I want lots of footage! lol.

Yeah its not really a trick if its just a skill you posess already.

  • I'm up for it!

It is amazing how much people have progressed since the start. I couldn't trackstand or skid or anything. I feel much more confident on the road now, and much more in control of my bike.

I do think we need to be a bit more welcoming/less showboaty at times though. I'ts a bit overwhelming when your learning to trackstand and someone comes wheelieing past you. I guess it's hard as, I never know who's new, and have a memory like a fish. So don't want to go up to people saying, "hey, want to learn how to skid?" when it turns out they are an ex-pro BMXer or something.

I guess it's just up to all of us to go over and offer friendly tips when we see someone wobbling in the corner.

That said, my experience of TDix has been completely supportive and lovely. I just worry sometimes that it was different walking into a crowd where pretty much everyone was a beginner, to walking into the current tuesday nights.

sorry I tend to waffle sometimes.

I'll be there tonight with sound track. Bring your ipods too.
