I got em of him for SOLD which was good deal I feel. They come with 45t sugino mighty chainring as pictured.

I haven't been on the bike that often so they are, as bought. I was hoping for.....

they will look even nicer if you can get some Sugino dustcaps.

  • Pm'd just in case. Cheers

  • @ max, just puff puff passing your goodwill dude

these are SOLD, thanks to all interested

nice one hassanr, good to meet u dude

  • they are rather pretty cranks. . .

  • Yes, real nice....... was reluctant walking away from that sale but....

....have a bookshelf here for old, classic stuff i have come across over the years in london and they would just look feckin amazing sitting there doing nothing, but they were made to be used so......

  • nice to meet you too dayno, sorry to be so brief but the drink was calling! come to polo and hang out so we can chat properly

and yeah, they are lovely :)

  • Quick question - what BB did you use with these?

Have same cranks and can't see proper answer in the transmission database.

    cheers.

  • u can use a shimano 110mm axle un54 for £15 or the like,

but i didn't mess around, read lots on it and just went with a sugino 75, seemed trouble free, if u ask nice at 14 they might give ya some bucks off a 75....

  • i posted these in the transmission data base a while back, 110 shimano.

  • I might have a vgc loose ball Dura Ace BB somewhere in that size if an yone is interested....english thread....

  • Cheers guys. So you found no issue using JIS BB with ISO crank?

Sorry for questions but 1st time fitting ISO crank for me.

  • it's not jis as far as i'm aware as it's different to the modern ones

  • Eh? Now I'm confused - Charco are you saying you have an old ISO Shimano BB?

EDIT - sorry - just searched and UN54 is ISO :-)

  • man, was beyond me and wonder if it still is but this is how i see that square taper ISO/JIS thing,

u can run that sugino on the square taper (ISO recommnded) but can't then run it on a JIS or visa versa.

if you start running ya cranks on one or the other u got to leave em on there.... there is a thread somewhere on this in mechanics, will look for it in a bit

  • Yeah - what's doing my head in is if you go to this link from Sheldon and scroll down to the Shimano UN54 BB's it says in the header:

    http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/bottombrackets.html

'Shimano BB-UN54 square tapered ISO/English thread, 68 mm width' - so indicates ISO yes?

but directly underneath in the text it says:

    'Spindle taper is J.I.S.'

    So WTF?!!

Don't want to clog your thread so have started a new one for my questions:

    http://www.londonfgss.com/thread23719.html

  • very nice cranks...
they will look even nicer if you can get some Sugino dustcaps.

    gizmond has some.
