Best place to buy a Nitto quill?

Posted on
  • Hi,
I have resurrected my old steel track iron as it actually fits me better than my sexy newer Duratec. I need the bars a little higher than they were before but I toasted the quill stem in a crash, so am running with a nasty quill adaptor and ahead stem. The steep drop nitto will leave the bars too low, a Pearl or similar will work. OK to buy new, who is good in the UK? I have found it at HUBjub, just wondered if anyone else keeps Nitto?
    Thx,
    Scherrit.

  • Japan.

  • Cyclebasket do the rather nice Dynamic in 9-13cm lengths.

    1. Shit post.

    2. They're

    3. What makes a stem crap? There's no way you put enough power through the front end of your bike to flex one of those dynamics.

  • I have one on my Quinn. It's fine. It looks good, doesn't weigh much, and works. What's not to like?

  • Happy to try one, in my experience an alloy stem lasted about a season of track use (including starts) before it started creaking because of becoming slightly waisted where the top of the steerer hits it. But 1) I'm not as strong as I used to be and 2) that's not a fatal amount of dosh to drop on a season's racing- not compared to fuel to Newport and Manchester for example....
    Thanks for the input.

  • Go to Hubjub for new Nitto stuff. You'll get it quickly and Will deserves your money for knockout customer service.

  • I have one of them well bendy NJS shizzles, that points well fucking down like a bitch. It increases my saddle to bar drop like a mother fucker.

There's something about the west coast, it makes me wanna ride.

    Yeah, bitch.

  • i know you said UK, but bens cycle in the US has some incredible stems right now. buy them up if you can swing it.

  • oh my god (literally).

  • scherrit, I think the Pearl is a little stiffer than the Dynamic.

Go to hubjub, always worth it for the little personalised note Will puts in.

Well, I do, so I know scherrit definitely will.

Yes, Dynamics can definitely flex. I was using one with bullhorns for months. The bendiness freaked me out cos there was so much movement pulling away from lights or making an uphill effort. The original Dynamic - which was 110mm, I think - was swapped for a shorter length. There was no more scary flexing after that.

  • Velosolo have a good selection of Nitto bits and bobs. Great service too.

They currently have some particularly sweet NOS Shimano Ultegra stems (made by Nitto) in stock.

  • Got the Pearl in the mail today from Hubjub, thx for advice- will support him in future! Bike is going to look very old skool!
    Cheers,
