Help with Samsung phone

Posted on
  • Sorry for nausing up the forum with this crap but I can't get any answers on google.

I borked my phone last night - it's a Samsung SGH D900i. I just picked it up and the screen was mashed to bits, I hadn't done anything to it, it just broke. Apparently a common problem with that model. Anyway, I really don't want to have to get all my contacts back manually. I can synch it with my laptop and get them all via bluetooth IF I can turn the bluetooth on on my phone. This is difficult when you can't see what is happening on the screen. If anyone has the D900i or D900, I would really appreciate your help (preferrably in the form of a step by step guide for how to get to my bluetooth settings from the menu screen).

It looks like that btw if you don't know the model name of your own phone lololol.

    Safe as houses, yo.

  • This information should be in your handbook.

  • If you don't get any help, i had this phone last year and have all the bits and pieces laying around somewhere will dig them out and try and help :]

  • Well I don't have the handbook as the phone is second hand but it isn't in there, I found it online but to no avail. If you can help that would be fantastic (this whole situation is making me RAGE deeply)...

No problem i will have a look for it now, be patient though as i have alot of cupboards :]

  • Dunno if it might be of help, but the following youtube crap has someone messing about with your phone. application folder on the top right option of the menu screen (so 2 clicks on the d-pad from the menu) then bluetooth being the fifth 5 one down on the applications screen.

Failing that the service manual here if you want to get creative and replace the screen...
    Meh, it's late...

  • does your mobile operator have an online help guide? some of them have step-by-step guides for setting up your phone, by specific model.

also, for the future you might want to look at an online contact sync/backup service. something like www.zyb.com (there are others) which works with shitloads of phones.

  • @ Daem - That's fantastic, excellent find. I think that might be just what I need!

@ Badtmy - No useful online help guides, but thanks for the backup link. I was looking for one of them today but they all seemed a bit rubbish, this looks to be a bit more legit.

Thanks everyone, this is why I love this place.

  • Excellent news - IT WORKED! Thanks to the video Daem posted, I was able to fumble my way around the phone and sync it with my Macbook. Thanks for all the help guys.

  • Woot... result :) save contacts to the sim card in the future FTW?

  • Yeah, that's what I've been doing. I'm going to keep a hard copy too, I really don't want to go through all this again.
