  • You Do NOT need a jersey for this ride......but it would be nice if you do.

You may have heard that I'm leaving for Australia on 9th July and before I go I'd like to repeat the Vintage Jersey Ride that a few of us did during the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

THIS IS A SOCIAL RIDE. NOT A RACE.

**START TIME 1pm FROM SMITHFIELDS MARKET **

SHOULD REACH END (SCOLT HEAD IN DE BEAUVOIRTOWN) BY 6PM.

URL for this route is: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2708673

Check out the last one ....http://www.londonfgss.com/thread16362.html

    Photos here...... http://www.londonfgss.com/thread19917.html

    FRONT BRAKE IS RECOMMENDED

*FOR JERSEYS, PLEASE SPEAK TO JD, OR VISIT EBAY. (CONVICTS OF THE ROAD ARE A GOOD BET, WILL BE HAVING A SALE FROM ABOUT WED AND THEY ARE BASED IN LONDON. PUNCHEUR IS COMING AND RUNS CONVICTS OF THE ROAD. HE CAN BRING ANY JERSEY YOU BUY WITH HIM).*

I'll update this with a new spokecard design and any detail changes.

Everybody is welcome to buy me a drink afterwards! Make a night of it if people are up for it. Anybody who wants to just come for a drink in the evening is very welcome. You don't have to do the ride to hit the pub afterwards.

BTW - It is OK to wear the same jersey you did last time. It is actually OK to not wear a vintage jersey at all, but a little effort would be nice.

  • One thing i noticed from last time was that it was a true workout for all but the people on geared rides looked all smug and sweat-free at the finish. Not wanting to exclude anyone but maybe put your foot down fresh and say no to freewheeling on the jersey ride. Either that or make them carry a sack of bricks.... that said it was a privilege to see the beautiful colnagos and gios. added and air of exclusivity to the event. ha, there you go, only go geared if you can raise the bar....

  • I can see edmundro your high prospect of cycling

  • I know what you mean edmundro but I can't go excluding people with gears. After all, people have to ride whatever they need to to make it and have as much fun as possible. I reckon more people could do it without gears than they think though.

I do like the idea of about them carrying cargo though. Maybe those with gears can carry the refreshments! In fact, they could ride ahead and hand out musettes from the side of the rode to those on fixed.

  • ...and those Colnagos were class, weren't they? Why do I only ride fixed?
