  • Can some one explain?

I cant quite work it out.

    is it form over function?

  • i saw 2 people today almost going over their bars...fail

  • They're strangely, really comfy tho'... BTW I don't even own one...

  • Thank God...

  • joey dont be silly....

    rubbish a sofa is comfy,
    a bed is comfy,

a lo pro is not supose to be comfy.

  • its for fashionistas surely... i dont have a problem with that but if that shit gets you killed... thats not cool.

  • They're really comfy... I had a go on Hoops'... He's tiny... It was comfy... I had a go on horatio's today... He's not so tiny... Also comfy... I wouldn't ride rik's, but then again, I'm an old man...

  • Tight, responsive, fun (or so im told)

  • They just look cool

  • @teen, so you ride Hoops (small) and Horatio's (big), but will you not ride mine?

    ok, now you upset me

  • Rik, your lo-pro is almost too beautiful to ride... :]

  • when i had one it was great, for about 15 minute rides, then it just got a bit uncomfortable.

looked like it was going 100mph stood still though, that's the appeal for me. just wish they were more practical.

and that was even quite a placid lo pro -

  • Ask Gabes about my Lo-Pro... (private joke sorry)

  • Seriously though, my Fort Lo-pro is way more comfy than any of my other bikes. Plus for polo it allows you to reach over the bars easily.

  • mmm...what frame is that? i like the geometry

  • fort aero track, the more i look at it, the more i wonder why i sold it...oh yeh, rent. shit.

  • Seeing those lo-pro, I'd think that the smaller front wheel would mean that they'll be slighty lower than usual and thus not as easy to see ahead in traffic, and of course your body is more hunch over, thus putting too much pressure on your hand.

why is it so comfortable? (not ridden one yet).

The best one I've seen so far are the matt-black Bob Jackson lo-pro I kept seeing around Clerkenwell ridden by a courier with longer than usual arms.

  • They're really comfy... I had a go on Hoops... He's tiny... It was comfy...

    Like we need to know.

  • I find the hunched position makes me slower? Im not enjoying mine as much as I hoped but it will do until my other frame arrives.

  • I havent had any trouble on the geek.
comfy up to a certain distance for sure (the furthest i've been is 40 miles). and mine gives quite a good position in traffic.

  • I find mine so comfortable. It's all too easy to assume that they're really low at the front and you're really hunched over....i made that assumption about teddy's until i rode it and realised the position felt the same as my brooklyn.
If you measure the bar height on most of the riser bar equipped lo-pros people are riding these days you'll see that they're no lower than most other bikes.
Both my 700 with drops and 650 with risers are only about 1" lower than my brooklyn....but they're both about an inch longer in cockpit length....this bends my back from the hips instead of further up my spine which really helps me.
If people are going over the bars then they're probably just shit riders TBH.

Like i say....just because the position looks aggressive it doesn't mean it is....in most cases the front is hardly any lower, it's just that the seat tube/top tube junction is higher.
I've been riding mine for 1.5hr rides lately and coming back with no discomfort.

Try one that is set up well and has the right length for you before you make too many assumptions.

  • i'll second that Teddy's/Scott's lo-pro is pretty comfortable.

  • Seeing those lo-pro, I'd think that the smaller front wheel would mean that they'll be slighty lower than usual and thus not as easy to see ahead in traffic, and of course your body is more hunch over, thus putting too much pressure on your hand.

The best one I've seen so far are the matt-black Bob Jackson lo-pro I kept seeing around Clerkenwell ridden by a courier with longer than usual arms.

that's Arak; he's about 6'2" and his saddle is nearly at chest height on me and I'm 5' 10". He's the Flkwg of couriers.

  • the position has to be no worse than riding in/on the drops

  • "this bends my back from the hips instead of further up my spine which really helps me."

all your bikes should do this. if they don't they are the wrong size or you are using too short a stem.
obviously a polo bike is going to have a different set of requirements so fit/comfort isn't as important.
but a riser equipped bike doesn't give you the variation of positions that on longer rides make a bike more comfortable. a zero rake/trail fork must be interesting at high speeds.
