  • I am doing the capital to coast with some people at work any suggestions for training.Thinking of doing Eastbourne to brighton and back or the other way round, anybody interested.

  • How far is the ride? Over what time? Is it a touring ride or a race?

    Training for distance: Ride lots
Training for speed: ride a bit less but ride really fast

    Job done. :)

  • Thanks any suggestions on diet

  • Diet? hahah you're definitely asking the wrong person.

Beer, kebabs, SIS and Kelloggs products got me around Ireland (1000k/5 days). :D

  • Speaking of which, I saw Clive today, he's lost a shitload of weight from that trip!

  • He's a tad forgetful, is our Clive. I bet he already can't remember where he's put it. If he's left it in Ireland, there's probably no way of getting it back.

  • Good Irish air keeps you nice and trim =D

(Either that or he got pissed and left it somewhere like you said Oliver =P)

  • I put on weight after Ireland*.

    Screw you guys.

    *It's gone again now.

  • Thanks any suggestions on diet

    Protein. Lots of protein.

  • a good heavy weight is essential for the downhill stretches, a diet of chips is the recommendation followed by beer, then a curry or kebab and you'll be fit to (drop) descend like a stone.

Hills are to be avoided at all costs, and if absolutely necessary take a bungy strap in your back pocket and clip it on your bike and to some sinny oik's bike while he's not looking, who's whistling up the hill as if it wasn't there, it'll gve him some much needed training, and you an easy ride up the hill.

    Job jobbed.

  • hills are easy, piss easy.

I just ride where there are no long ones, or none at all. seems to work just fine

  • I rode up Everest that was a piece of piss. Hills are usually harder than mountains.

Did you pinch Clive's, by any chance?

    Bikes are for under 1km.
