  • does anyone anyone any really nice long smooth roads that are clear? They may not exist but anything that comes close? maybe a ride in this?

  • around canary wharf/O2/poplar/limehouse etc are all quite nice

  • Lots.

    In Australia.

  • blackfriars road after one in the morning weeknights. beautiful.

  • the seven hills of highgate and hampstead on a sunday morning

  • Shooters Hill downhill eastbound early in the morning.

Just a touch further South, the road from Eltham High Street, past Avery Hill and into Blackfen is one of my favourites. The (slight) downhill run approaching Avery Hill has been resurfaced recently and is almost always quiet enough for a flat out blast, especially as prevailing winds are generally pushing you along.

  • outside of london.
those who only ride in london would be surprised how good the riding is 'out there' i guess if you are too cool for school then nobody is going to see how good you and your bike look in the countryside but the views are nice.

  • There have been some stunning looking roads on the Giro this year. Is it sad that I've been imagining - no scrub that - fantasising about riding on them?

Sorry I haven't got anything useful to say - I think I've got tennis elbow from riding on shitty roads. Looking forward to some recommendations...

  • I've got housemaid's knee from... well, anyway, nice roads, yes, erm

Yes, I've noticed that, too--lots of recent resurfacing work.

    I used to get that.

I think I have cracked it by conciously keeping my arms slightly bent and relaxed (which is now second nature) and leaning forward slightly more. I have not had it since then.

Riding any distance on cobbles or the like can do it too... Paris-Roubaix anyone?

  • Yeah, Paris-Roubaix next year.
