• Ok, I know some of you can wheelbuild. I have rims and hubs, I need someone to check my spoke lengths (when I have the rims in front of me) and then, to build the wheels...

I would be looking for a reasonably priced service, i.e. done for love, not money (lbs charges £35 a wheel, you guys can do it cheaper than that, right?). I am looking for £10-£15 a wheel?

I can drop off the parts on the 19th, in central london (assuming I have pulled my finger out of my arse and bought spokes by then) and collect on the 24th. As I live right on the edge of London, and don't come into the centre much, I'm not willing to move much on these dates...

I'm away from the 20th to the 24th also.

    Cheers...

  • dogsballs.

  • Pm'd him about 5/6 days ago, no reply...

  • try hillbilly.

  • Thanks, pm'd him.

  • ah, yeah think he's away.

    hilly of the billy ftw

he's out of the country i believe

  • no worries, he might be able to sort you spokes too.

  • Another recommendation for Hillbilly - he gave me a very pleasant tutorial in wheelbuilding in exchange for some cider, and is in general a splendid chap. The wheels built are holding up excellently* despite being built mostly by me under supervision, rather than by the man himself.

*he said, dooming them to an early demise.

  • I'm happy to build them or teach you. Just done a class yesterday:http://www.londonfgss.com/thread6470-6.html

For spoke length you could use my calculator: http://lenni.info/edd/

The best deal on spokes I have found on outspoken cycles.

  • You should just build them yourself then get someone to true them for you.
Use the Sheldon Brown page with spoke lacing diagrams, not that difficult.

Might take you up on that, I'm around from this thursday, all day, until the 19th...

How much are we looking at? beer or money for you to teach/supervise me doing it... I'm a very hands on person, but I have none of the equiptment for doing it, and I can harldy justify buying it to use once...

  • I have everything you need (truing stand and spoke key) apart from the components obviously.

Will ask for £10 for the two wheels if its just teaching, or £20 for building them.

  • Ma3k's right, do it yourself mc_nebula. In fact, why not have a bash at truing them too. It's fun (as long as you're in no hurry, in my case). Or get lenni to coach you for confidence.

  • I'm going to go for the coaching option. Ehren, pm sent....

    Thanks guys.

    :)

  • Ehren, would be interested in similar (or another class, easy either way) - whereabouts are you roughly? Cheers!

  • I'm in E3. I just started a list on the Wheel building class thread. Add yourself to that one if you want to come.

  • Cool, I'm just sarf of there - will give you a shout when I've obtained the necessaries...
