Now sold. Thanks for the interest!
Hello,
I've got essentially a complete project for sale, centered around a very nice Italian Saronni frame, which is in need of a good cleanup. This will build into a very sweet fixed gear or geared bike. I bought it on the off chance it might fit my gf - because it was simply too sweet to let pass - but it turns out it's slightly too large for her. Shame, my loss, someone else's gain! Anyway, here are the details:
Frame
Blue Saronni lugged steel frame. 51cm c-c seattube, 52cm c-c top-tube. There's quite a bit of surface rust and this needs cleaning up and repainting. However, the rust is simply on the surface and the frame is structurally sound. I'm reliably told by the old-skool guy at the LBS that this was probably made in the mid 80s and that Saronni and Colnago were linked. Colnago made a bunch of Saronnis, then Sarroni started making them himself. I believe this is the latter - either way, this is an Italian steel frame with pedigree! Tubing is unknown but all Saronnis used Columbus tubes of some flavour. Chromed seat and chain stays, long horizontal dropouts should make fixed conversion a breeze. Shimano 600 headset in good nick.
Bars & Stem
The second highlight of this project is the very sweet Nitto track bars. These are marked model 155 and are 40cm wide. The stem is a Shimano quill stem 90mm long, and this has a very nice internal clamping system.
Wheels
The wheels fitted are Mavic cxp10 rims (similar to the cxp 2x/3x) medium deep rims, laced to Shimano Exage hubs. The rear is built for gears and currently has a 7-speed shimano cassette. Hubs are cup and cone and run smooth. Virtually new Vittoria Rubino 700x25 tyres.
Bits
Nice Shimano SLR brake levers, shimano 105 downtube shifters, front and rear mech, shimano slr brakes. One works fine and has lots of brake pad, the other is a bit stiff and needs pads. new 26.0 alloy seatpost (unusual size on this frame), virtually new San Marco Base saddle. The Look pedals pictured aren't for sale.
Looking for £130 for the lot. The bike is currently in Cambridge but I can happily meet you in N London or Kings Cross.
Think that's about it, any more questions, fire away!
