archies grobags are *the* bags, but be ready to wait for more than a year
Chrome are ghood bag, very solid and hard, but not to comfy
Timbuk2, don't know never try one, but people complain about the strap -

I would chose the chrome over the timbuk2 any day, but I would look for an alternative to both since there are better bags out there.

Chrome bags last ages, and i find they fit nicely but having no padding on the back is a fail.
-

If you like the fit of the chrome, go for that and buy a sheet of foam...cut it to fit inside the back of the bag....presto!

Don't buy a Timbuk 2 as the strap system is piss poor compared to other superior brands like Archies, Chrome, Pac or Bagaboo.
I struggled with a Timbuk 2 for a year and moving to a new bag (a Bagaboo) was so pleasurable as it actually stayed in place and didn't require almost constant adjustment.

IMO, but I agree, Archies is da best innit, followed a close second by Pac.

Except that my Timbuk2 has lasted 17 years.....so far.
Shit can last a long time. AND mine was used for courier work for at least 4 years, then commuting.

I've had both Timbuk2 and Chrome. The Timbuk2 went on the 'Bay after less than a year, I still use the Chrome every day.

FWIW, I'm delighted with my Chrome Kremlin. It's not perfect, but it does everything I want and is big enough to fit a wheel inside. That said, once I'm working again I'm ordering a Grobag like a shot - they're bloody beautiful.

just got a chrome and really like it, but like others say it needs a sheet of foam for the back. I got a Citizen which doesn't fit much, perfect for the daily commute but wouldn't mind a bit more room in it. So go for a metropolis at least

Timbuk2 bags can be used on both shoulders. Wearing a big heavy bag on one side only will give your back gyp.
a bag with a poor strap like the Timbuk2 will give you pain on your shoulders, having a strap that support the bag properly on your shoulder is better than having a bag that can be use for both shoulder, an example of a well-design strap;

+1. The Timbuk2 is a jack of all trades and a master of none. Chrome, on the other hand, is a master at going over one shoulder. There's no contest. Read my thread about Timbuk2 Sway.

Go shop 14 and buy the Archie's Marlon that they have in there.
Failing that, bagaboo or pac ftw. -
