Pig flu?

  • I feel like I've got flu - aches, temperature, nose running like crazy, dry throat, generally feel like crap. And yes have had flu before so I know the difference between a cold and flu.

Has anyone else had anything like this last few weeks or have I got swine flu?

  • no, you're fucked, now lock yourself in a room and deal with the biggest non event of the summer.
    biologically speaking.

also maybe you shouldn't have blown down those houses.
    serves you right.

OR shock horror its called hysteria, go see a doc, and you'll be just fine.
As in its just run of the mill, everyday man flu. (unless you're a woman in which case its the flu)
YOu'd be feeling a lot worse than this if you had caught some serious bug.
Think halucinations due to your temperature rocketing, and needing to spend much of your time in a lukewarm bath to reduce your body temp.
Take a bath, take some vits, take some Lemsip, get some sleep, get more sleep watch TV and you'll be fine.

Don't post it on internet forums, you'll be fine dearie.

  • if he dies, this will be the epic fail of the century.

  • My piece of advice for you is..

Stay the fuck away from us!

  • FFS! i said go see a doctor.

I hope you are fine btw Fox.

I'm just very cynical about health scares. for the most part they are nonsense.
and i have a hypochondriac/ very easily scared gf, who i have to help through any of them
but try the lemsip/ bath/ bed technique.
it has gotten me through much.

    Now, Bedtime Mister.

oh and its a wolf that blows down pigs houses not a fox.
    bollocks.

  • A fox with pig flu, now we're all truly fucked.

  • animal recognition fail haha !

but yes eyebrows, its all a bit huffed and puffed is this flu thing.

  • Um, thanks for your optimism Dylan! I have no plans to depart this mortal coil yet, except perhaps jumping my flyer over a pot hole or two ;)

I didn't say I wouldn't be fine! If it is swine flu I imagine I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between it and normal flu - bring it on, I've had so many bugs my immune system will deal with it. And I ate a duck tonight :)

But I have had normal flu before and I know it is not fun - I can think of better ways of spending a week than sat inside being bored and not being able to ride my bike. Plus I have things to do next week, I haven't got time to be ill!!

I did seriously wonder if there is anything going round, because I can't think who I might have caught anything off, everyone I know has been fine, but just laughing at the idea of cross animal transmission/a fox that blows down houses now!

You're right, I should go to bed now. I'm not good at going to bed.

  • i spent a fair time today on the tube mimicking Speedy Gonzales with a cough.
i definitely deserve to get swine flu, i'm a truly terrible person.

  • I was just sat there a few minutes ago thinking 'I blew down houses? What does he mean?' ha ha. Wolves do look similar, but foxes don't have funny accents.

What made me think 'I wonder if it could be swine flu' was I was in Barnet Friday and South Hampstead is down the road, maybe it's all my fault!

  • I'm just very cynical about health scares. for the most part they are nonsense.

The very point about health scares is that they are for the most part false. Hence the use of the worse 'scare'.

. . . . . and i have a hypochondriac/ very easily scared gf, who i have to help through any of them

    Don't confuse valetudinarianism with hypochondria.

The threat of a global flu pandemic is very real, this one, as far as we can tell will luckily not be it, but when (and it is generally agreed by the experts to be when rather than if) it happens the death toll may well be substantial.

Similarly I was sat on a train at Liverpool St. Friday evening for about 15 mins before it departed. Everytime someone entered the carraige looking for a seat I started coughing.

  • valetudinarianism
amazing word, but my use is right in this case tynan.

IF there is a global pandemic, and we can get into the debate over whether its guaranteed or not, then the public are going to react in a far duller way than if the news didn't spread poor science repeatedly.

    night all. its bedtime here.

I disagree that the news is spreading poor science, but in lieu of an argument I will let you give examples.

I am trying to differentiate between the genuine medical condition and merely seeking sympathy, replace words as you feel.

Best advice of the thread, and in any case, it's probably best to stay away from Hippy anyway =P

  • Wow, if I watch this thread any longer, I may witness a whole conversation between on man and himself unfold.

    ;)

    Symptoms of the swine?

You're still upset because I didn't "hold you afterwards".

Did you look into his eyes - well his one good eye at least ?

  • I always check the good one..

  • Stay hydrated, youll have a fever for a couple of nights/days then youll be fine.

  • you get purple blotches on you and shit with the swine flu. Then you begin to inflate. Within minutes you will have inflated to thrice or four times your normal size, and turned completely purple, as seen in this footage broadcast on BBC News 24 just moments ago.

    Poor girl.

  • swine flu is like AIDS; before you have it you try really hard not to catch it. Once you've got it, you go out and try to spread it.

  • You have Tuberculosis.
