  • Early 90's Colnago Matser frameset crafted from Columbus Gilco steel tubing with Colnago curved chrome forks. Also comes with Dura Ace headset and BB, and Campagnolo seatpost bolt. All bearings stripped and regreased. Some touch ups on the paint but mostly excellent, minor pitting on the chromed chainstay and the underneath of fork chrown. No rust at all. Horizontal Campagnolo dropouts. Looking at offers over £450.

  • Wow nice frame, that paint job is quite something, good luck with the sell :D

  • WHY!!!???
why is it 2cm too big for me!?

  • Where are you based and can I come and have a look?

  • Hi benjeebee - based in Manchester and guessing you're in london? You are very welcome to have a look if your any closer or I can do pics of anything you want to see. Cheers, Joe

  • thats a wicked frame.
Well nice detail on the shell, but doesn't it invite loads of crud to get inside the BB area?

Yeah man that's too far. Sorry.

I wash my bike every weekend, cos I am a nerd.

  • Not really, tyre spay won't hit the BB shell and the BB is very well sealed anyway

    Colnago master vs. master olympic

Any difference between the two? Looking at buying a colnago master gilco tubed early 90s - about £300. Worth it?

My understanding is that Colnago used the Olympic suffix as a marketing tool in the early 1990s but the IOC stepped in and stopped them using it. There was no difference between the Master and the Master Olympic. The Master Piu, of the same era, differed in that the rear brake cable was routed through the top tube.

£300 is a fair price for a frame although I'd expect it to be in pretty good condition for that price.

    Fast buck mate?

  • That went well, eh?

  • Nope not a fast buck, but thanks anyway! Didn't buy that in the end - it was frame only and a bit of a wreck. I DID buy this - (for exactly what I am asking I hasten to add!) - but can't afford to do the build I wanted to at the moment.

Ps. If you do a bit more digging you will also find a thread where I asked about getting rid of a Cinelli Supercorsa as I had just bought a Master for myself. Can't afford to keep that either so that will be going next week. Lost my job unfortunately but thanks for your input.

  • Didn't do much digging joe - it was at the bottom of the page. Seemed pricey for a 20(?) yr old frame - albeit a colnago. Comiserations re the job by the way.

Platini - apologies for the hashed cut & paste

  • De nada...
    ;-)

  • No worries mate! I thought it was a fair price, that's why I bought it! Plus I saw a similar one go for 600 recently but hey ho. I f anyone is still interested let me know

    Ta

  • I seem to have been quoted as an expert on Colnago pricing. Can I just point out that my comments were in relation to a specific frame that wasn't in particularly good condition and wasn't a Master. Personally I'd expect a good condition Master with a decent paint job to go for at least £400 or so on Ebay so I don't think the price Joe is asking is unrealistic.

  • That said, a early 1990s Master would have straight forks.

  • Final call before the bay
