Winstanley Bikes

Anyone had any dealings with them? I've read mixed reports on here and on bikeradar, quite a few problems with sending wrong size/wrong model.. I'm hesitant to use them but they are the only place I can find with the bike I'm after "in stock", in the size I'm after...and they are cheap

So please let me know your experiences... I searched titles and there is no other thread like this with a name specifically related to winstanleys... but I am aware there are mentions of winstanleys within other threads, so no need to reiterate that fact.

Steer clear no matter what, the whole company is filled with useless incompetent idiots, they got two chances from me back when I used to bmx and they let me down big time on both occasions, along with many others.

well i rang up to check the bike was in stock, because i've heard they don't always stock what the website says, and they told me they did have it in, but I've since read posts that said even when you ring and they tell you they have the bike in stock, after you've paid..it transpires they don't have it...

Just stay away. It's the best advice.

Don't give these people your money. Go to your LBS and pay a little more, or alternatively buy from chainreaction.com - such good value for money, free shipping and amazing customer service!

If you know whats good for you, don't use them, don't even bother calling emailing or anything. Spend the little bit extra and buy from someone/somewhere that won't fuck you over, lie to you, and so on........

I think that pretty much summarizes my sentiments when it comes to "Wankstanleys"

I've used them a couple of times, and they were fine. Saying that the shop is about 5 miles from my house so I've done it all face-to-face

Looking for a fuji track! Not a particularly specific request, but they don't have my size in evans (apprantly in any evans in the UK) and its >£60 more dear there anyway..

Yeah I noticed this, I think I will go for it, I'd rather pay a bit more and not take the apparantly very high risk

I appreciate that the prices of winstanleys are very appealing but seriously, I've tried to use them (as have two of my house mates) and their service is appauling.

I've had someone on the phone, whilst I'm putting in a complaint spend, half an hour checking they have an item in stock (which I'd already been waiting for for over a month) confirm that he had the thing in his hand. Only to not receive it by a week later and speak to the same guy who stated he'd never confirmed anything of the kind. It took in total 2 months to give them lots of money, receive nothing but hassle and eventually get my money back.

Buy somewhere else. Pay extra. Be happy.

They nick so much cash of people, more often that not people dont recieve the goods

I got my bike off them last February. I ordered it on the Wednesday and they delivered on the Friday so no complaints from me.

out of the 5 or 6 people i spoke to about winstanleys who have ordered have waited upon weeeeeks!

i heard about the terrible delivery times and such
so i went down the day after i ordered and picked it up
after walking round a council estate in wigan for around an hour or two
but alot of people cant do that
so avoid like the bubonic plague

Even if you live near them, why go there when you can give your money to Alans BMX who are fucking brilliant?
