Trouble Getting Hold Of Forks

  • anyone got any idea's where would be good for threaded 1" forks, 16ish cm of steerer tube (for a 59cm iro frame).

cavendish don't have anything for a month,
14 say they're only doing threadless
and blb looked at me like i'd shot a dog when i asked in there...

someone in 14 recommended tour de ville, but i've heard its pretty pricey as they're carrying mainly older vintage forks?

i'm keeping my eye out on classifieds, but haven't seen anything yet

    thanks.

  • you could get the 14 forks threaded.

  • Cheap as chips but strong, other lengths available:

there's a pair on this Pug:

Also, I might have some nicer flat crown chrome ones, need to check length when I get home tonight.

  • i literally might just get those ones of ebay for the time being, its so cheap i feel i have too...
a fiver though! can't believe that, almost feels like there has to be a catch

it would be sweet if you could check those forks at home, thanks for helpin' out

  • Yeah, I thought they would be crap but they're not too bad, welding round the brake boss is a bit rough but you can't see that when fitted, and they're quite heavy, but for a fiver (well, tenner incl. P&P) who could complain? If you need them cut down/thread extended give me a shout, but I'll check the chrome ones anyway - don't get your hopes up, I think they'll be just too short :(

  • and blb looked at me like i'd shot a dog when i asked in there...

    lol!

  • the stuff on sale from the ebay shop bankrupt supplies is quite good, i've bought a few bits from there now and am impressed. some of its new, some used but all cheap!

  • @ shaw go back into blb and just look at the forks on the walls
loads of varieties lots of choice
and don't look like you shot a dog when you walk in !!! ;-)

  • 14 say they're only doing threadless

Well that's a crock of shit, because I have a threaded 1" set on order with them right now!?! (At least they better bloody be!)

  • i've no idea about 14 then, unless there was a communication issue, but i was told they weren't doing threaded forks anymore. maybe they have been but stopped recently? no idea.

and the issue at blb was that apparently none of the forks on the walls would fit my 59cm frame due to steerer length issues.

it was mad busy sunday though, maybe they just wanted to get rid of me ;)

  • rather than directly applying your hands to the forks, may i suggest handlebars?
