My geared one (not the ratty new hack one) went back to the factory in Belgium (by the previous owner, can be arranged via the distributor I think) to be resprayed in the Anniversary colours. Was probably ££££ and overkill, but the quality of the paintwork is outstanding.

The Eddy Merckx factory in Belgium will do it for approx £250.
Must go through the UK Distributor FK Marketing - Email: gfk@amicro.net Phone: 0123 4241 516
Assuming a steel frame, the choice of colours and finishing are now limited.
Decals are included in the price. The selection is also limited.
Colourtech is the only officially recommended painter if you'd prefer to stay local.
I'm sure other UK resprayers can do a superb job.
Merckx won't release original decals to anyone so you'll need to rely on the wonderful reproductions offered by CycloMondo.

I was in contact with both Merckx and FK 3 days ago.

I recognise that bike... I think I may try to find a cheaper deal than that - need a dent repaired as well...

Respraying a steel Eddy Merckx at the factory just got tougher.
Received this email today:
On refurb work now, the only colours that they are able to offer are the Moltini team colours (MOL) and the white colour in which they finished the last of their steel production frames earlier this year - this was an all-over white with a red decal, edged with gold, in the curved pattern.
You all know what the Molteni looks like but here's an example of the available White/Red.
80's style decals are also all gone so CycloMondo may be the best option.

If no joy then Argos are pretty much the best at anything over and above the standard resto job - widely regarded as the best by classic bike enthusiasts here and overseas.
Anyone ever had this done? With the pantogaph-type, etching things, is it hard to find someone to do a decent job? Also, did anyone find any decals that can be stoved?
