Wheels stolen in London Fields park

Posted on
  • When I was walking through London Fields park, I noticed that three bikes all locked to the fence near the Pub In The Park had their wheels stolen.

None of the bikes appeared to have locks on their wheels, just on the frame.

  • Welcome to the east end of London, no one live there without having at least one wheel stolen.

  • what have you learnt dayno? pls let us know.

  • those bikes have been chained to the railings for some time now, wheels get stolen if your bike is left un-attended for over a week in any part of london

28 years in London, 0 bikes stolen. You must be doing something wrong.

  • how old are you mate?!

  • The east isn't all bad. The first bike had quick release wheels, used to lock it up in all manner of places, even left it locked up outside a video shop overnight. The wheel wasn't stolen till months later when I locked the bike in quiet street outside my house.

  • That's what i've gotta do...invest in hub locks. Here in NYC I have to plan ahead in terms of securing my bike when i'm out and about.

  • What do people recommend for locking the front wheel - just a Kryptonite Mini perhaps?

I am surprised how very few bikes do lock their front wheel, so am I overestimating the possibility of wheel theft?
