  • just to say, as I'm sure most of u guys know, but Cranks is an awesome place! really nice people and really helpfull. managed to get my lil brother a complete road bike for £20 and hopefully gonna go down and build myself a polo bike tomorow!

  • More about Cranks:
I'm a cranks volunteer - as some of you may know - and we're on the lookout for more members. If you think you can offer some spare time and fancy joining a really nice bunch of people who share a common passion (cycling and bikes!) then please consider joining us / helping us out. It's all for a very good cause. We've got a couple of party's and a film night coming up which I'll keep you informed about... Also, we'll be running maintenance courses over the next 2 months for potential and current volunteers starting on thursday eve with a session on brakes of all kinds which you're welcome to come along to.

I hope you dont mind me posting this:

Cranks, the volunteer run, not for profit, DIY community bike workshop, are looking for new volunteers to help people in the Brighton area learn to service and repair their own cycles.

Ideally volunteers will have enthusiasm for cycling and some prior knowledge of bike mechanics, although in house and in some cases formal training can be provided.
Cranks provide the workshop space, tools and advice needed to enable the Brighton public to keep their bikes running smoothly and safely. In addition they are partly funded by the sale of used cycles at prices which should be affordable to most people.

As a community project Cranks operates in a not for profit and cooperatively run manor, with each member of the group having an equal say in how the group operates during biweekly administration meeting. Volunteers are need to staff the public workshop sessions and help refurbish used cycles for sale.

So if you are interested in volunteering to work with a friendly inclusive community group to promote cycling at a practical level in the Brighton area then drop into Cranks at 22 Chapel st and see what they do. They are open on Fridays and Saturday between 11-17:00hrs. Or visit www. cranks.org.uk for more information.
